New air conditioners

My AC units on my 98( I presume they are original as the po has no paperwork to say otherwise the paper work was very comprehensive when I purchased it) are getting tired and I am replacing them shortly. I am looking at the dometic penguin ll 15000 btu units as I want an absolutely plug and play replacement. The only other purchase I would have to make is the 10 button CCll thermostat which I am ok with. I currently have the 5 button thermostat.  My question is I  was going to get the micro air thermostat before discovering my ac units require replacement. Can I just purchase the micro air thermostat and install it directly or do I have to install the dometic cc2 to set up the new ac units before l replace it with the micro air?
I know I may get comments about alternate ac units as I have read multiple posts about alternatives but I am happy with the dometic product and the accessibility of getting alternatives which are absolute plug and play in Canada are limited.

I am going to guess you only need the mirco aire thermostat.  You might email them and ask to be sure. They responded to an email I sent to them on a Sunday and got an answer a few hours later, not the next day.

Peter, I just purchased two new Dometic Penguin 2 15 BTU AC's from Foretravel today. Foretravel had the best price I could find. About $1550 ea. , Especially with the 10% Motorcade discount. These are replacing my original Duotherm 13.5 on my 99' U295. My original thermostat was a five button Dometic that I had already replaced with a Micro Air. The 5 button Micro Air will not work with the new units as they require the 10 button thermostat. I ordered the Micro Air 10 button replacement and it is shipping to me. I also ordered the 10 button Dometic thermostat from Foretravel also. FT had the best price for the thermostat so. If I don't end up using the 10 button Dometic, they will take it back and credit me the money back. Everything , the 2 AC's and the 10 button are in will call at Foretravel awaiting Keith Risch to pick up. He will be installing everything along with taking my Micro air easy starts off my old units and installing in new AC's when I am back there in a few weeks. Hopefully the 10 button Micro air replacement will work right out of the gate and I will not need the 10 button Dometic. Hope this information is useful.

Thanks for the detailed response Keith. Will the inside ceiling assembly from my originals work with the new unit or do I require a new one?

You will need new ceiling assemblies. I added a Dometic 15, 000 to my front last year. The wiring didn't match the 10 button thermostat. It was a nightmare. They are loud, loud. Good luck

Well, I was lead to believe by both Foretravel and Dometic that these were the direct drop in replacements. But, Ernie says he did it and they were not. So, I guess I don't know. But someone else is installing so hopefully they will be able to figure it out without too much trouble.

. My original thermostat was a five button Dometic that I had already replaced with a Micro Air

Are you thinking about selling your Micro Air 5 button thermostat?

George, yes I was going to sell it when everything is up and running hopefully. I need it for a few more weeks, then we are traveling cross country for a couple months. Will be back home around first of December. If you're interested , you are first in....probably $125...Have box and instructions. Has been installed and working since May of this year.
