Water fill pump short circuit

When filling the city water AND using the water pump, the water short circuits back to the tank.  From a few forum searches, it appears this is common, but what I haven't found is why?  Shouldn't the incoming water supply line be between the tank fill and the pump supply?
In the picture, my city water flows in via the yellow line to the tank.  You can also see that the green line is the supply from the tank to the water pump, so the incoming water just goes in a circle back to the yellow supply line leaving you with almost no water pressure in the coach.
I'm thinking of separating the two and moving the water fill to the tank drain (which has a dedicated bulkhead) but I thought I better check with the experts first.  I would still install a line and valves to allow supplying city water directly to the coach if wanted, but I would actually prefer to primarily use the pump and tank water and only if needed (pump wasn't working) use the incoming supply directly in the coach.

What would be the problem if you shut the pump off for 15 minutes or so till the tank is full. Then you wouldn't have that issue.

The reason this has my current attention, and how I even came to notice it at all, is that the coach has a very handy auto top off feature.  When the water level gets below a set level, the valve automatically opens and fills the tank to the set point then shuts off.  It works well, however, when I was in the shower and the tank level dropped, the valve opened and my shower head went to a trickle.  So, there I stood with a head full of suds and a pencil sized stream of water to rinse with and it got me thinking!

It also takes much longer than 15 minutes to fill the tank.

That is a new one on me.  I guess I never let my tank get below around 20%. I do know that when you press the water fill button if you forget to be watching it (Like Ii have done more times then I have fingers) the water tank will fill to 90% and then shut off.

I would call Silverleaf and see if you can turn the auto fill feature off in programing.

While at the Mid South Rally and Grandvention I will ask others if they have run into this feature(problem)

The feature does not make a lot of sense to me since when you are lowering the tank with water pump, you are most likely not on City water.

Thinking about this.

If turning off software feature is not available.

Instead of replumbing how about either put a switch next to the electric valve or pull the relay for the fill valve. Either option will keep the valve from letting the valve fill the tank.
