ES52F Generator Auto-Start Module Location?

I found the BCM12 Battery Monitor, but can't file the ES52F Auto-Start module.  Where is that located?  Is it under the dash somewhere  on on the Powertech itself?

It is connected to those indicator fault lights on the generator control panel.

It is held on by those 2 screws you see catacorner from each other. Be careful with the plug as it will be brittle.

Joe,

A light just came on (thanks Chuck) as you may be talking about the one that is hid in the dash that has the dip switches and not the one in the generator control box. The es 52 that is part of the auto start system is hid in the dash of coaches in the 90's. With yours being a 02 yours may have the new style auto start system and only have the one on the generator.

Ours is hid in the center section of the dash.

I believe the 1997 U295 that I had was located in the front drivers side compartment. I ended up disconnecting it since I stored my coach in a building and it kept starting the generator.

There is an auto start black box under the floor panel in the dash center storage compartment in my 02.  Don't know if that is what you are looking for.  The Audit black box is also located there.

There's two parts of it.  Is is the BM-12 Battery Monitor that sends a 12 volt signal the the ES52F Auto-Start module.  BM-12 has low and high point adjustments where you can adjust the low battery voltage for the auto-start and high for auto stop.  I see the BM-12 (under the swinging door to the dash compartment.  Just cant find the ECM12F easily.

We're installing a  Victron Cerbo to replace the BM-12 per Tom's method Connecting powertech generator to victron cerbo gx, but instead of just disabling the BCM-12, wanted to eliminate it entirely (Keith's suggestion in the last reply).

That may not be possible as when we removed power from it, we are able to automatically start the generator, but not stop it.

Maybe just leave it, but seemed preferable to remove it so we don't have it sit there drawing unnecessary power and guarantee that it has no ability to send start/stop signals to the gen.

AFAIK the ES52 is inside the generator.  The 'F' part of the number is, again AFAIK, simply the programming (dip switch settings).

Unless I am missing something, based on Tom's drawing, the Cerbo relay takes the place of the latching relay,  When you press the momentary switch it causing the latching relay to close, causing the generator to start. When the momentary switch is pressed again it then causes the latching relay to open, thus causing the generator to shut down.  If wired correctly, the Cerbo relay closes the generator starts and when the relay opens the generator stops. Removing the BCM-12 should not make any difference if there or not.

It sounds to me that when the Cerbo relay is closing you are engaging the latching relay to close, thus causing the generator to start. When the Cerbo relay opens the latching relay is still staying closed. Either yours is wired different then Tom's drawing or you are connected to the wrong terminal.

As Rich said above on our 2004 the auto start module is under the carpeted floor panel of the center console side swinging door.

We have it working, but for some reason the BCM12 must have power for Tom's solution to work.  I might have accidently had the  auto-start switch off when trying to shut her down from the console.  At any rate, at lease in our coach unplugging the 20 Amp fuse on the BCM-12 disabled the Cerbo's ability start and stop.  Plugging the fuse back in, it works fine.

I 100% agree with you.  Looking at the manual in the BCM-12 manual, I can see no reason why unplugging from 12V power should matter.  It's just one 12 v start signal wire replaced by the 12v wire in the Cerbo,  yet disconnecting from 12 power completely  disabled the ability to start from the Cerbo.  Wierd.  Any rate  I'll take it for what it is.  With the BCM-12 run output wire disconnected and replaced by the Cerbo, there's no danger of conflicting signals.  I just capped off the wire and we'll call it a day.
