Propane fitting for BBQ Grill, etc.

Completed another needed modification thanks to several other posts. Installed a quick connect off the Tee after the regulator. Hardest part was figuring out what size the parts needed to be. The Tee is 1/2" NPT. The propane connections are 1/4" NPT.
I used gas tape rather than pipe dope. I've always had good luck with that. Others may disagree. Got everything on Amazon. I've had this type of setup on our old trailer so I know it works.

Looks good. I have the same setup with a 12' hose and a 8' hose. Between the two, I can put my griddle or anything I want to run, wherever I have wanted to put it so far.

I wanted to do the same bbq quick connect shown but am having issues with getting the 1 inch right angle pipe fitting to come loose. Any suggestion to loosen the connection so i can get that pipe off??

Peter, you need to replace the lower elbow ( output side of regulator ) with a " T " it will be very tight. Start with removing the regulator first. fortunately for most of us that " T " is already there. An extension pipe on a pipe wrench may be needed, use a backup wrench to support other connection. Jim.

So, the BBQ works on 11" column of water propane PSI (post RV regulator)??

Or has its own regulator and requires tank PSI (so T would be before the RV regulator)?

I don't use the supplied regulator for the BBQ and feel it's safer for me. Has worked well so far. Jim.

Yup, just want to point out to others that not all BBQ's are set up the same in terms of what PSI propane they should be supplied with.

Get it wrong and you could have a non-working BBQ, or far worse a huge blow torch.

I love the concept but I have to add an issue. When I did mine I originally set it up with those handy quick connect / shut off fittings.... But, I found that those type shut off (gate valves) can and did leak when I had it installed in the cabin.

So, I went ahead and used them for the quick connect feature but,, added an additional upgraded gas shut off. Not saying yours will leak but just beware, just saying.

Bob, great idea with the second better quality shut off valve. I have had another quick release valve from the other country fail on my aux air compressor system. Jim.

Follow Robert and Susan's idea, and always include a positive-off ball valve with propane / compressed air, any quick disconnect. The moment the quick disconnect does not automatically close, you will then know why it is required.

Speaking of positive off, also use a bunch of these single-outlet lighted-switches around the house and coach (like on Amazon: Cable Matters 3-Pack Grounded Outlet Switch). For sure on the microwave plug. Also, good safety for hot-pots and all devices that have single-button push-on-push-off switches, as most are never turned off, while waiting for the push-on next time. Handy for rebooting TV, DVR, Streaming, etc. devices.

No i actually bought a bunch of these. They are pipe strainers i think. . Let me i investigate as i cant remember and i will let you know

On my coach, there was already one hose connection between the tank and the regulator so that is where i added some more connections. My theory is that I don't want to have regulators in series. Each appliance has its own regulator. Am I doing this correctly?

So I too had originally hooked up to the liquid side and have since changed to downstream of the regulator as a low pressure vapor. Just didnt like having liquid in the lines. Has worked fine. Those regulators are time limited to about ten years. Honestly dont know what will work better for you but that seems to be better for me.

I am plumbed to a port labeled vapor and have not been aware of any liquid in the line. There is a tee and one side goes to the regulator that feeds to the stove and fridge. Do you still use the regulator that comes with the attached appliance?

I chose to only use the coach regulator. Our Buddy heater that we use has both options, regulated and non... and the bbq gets hotter on the coach reg. 500 versus 750.

The high side of the vapor line before the regulator only has high pressure gas and no liquid. You only get liquid from the liquid port on your tank if it was built to have a liquid hook up.
