Power cord reel not retracting

The power cord reel is passing power through fine, but the retract function is inop and pops the basement resettable breaker.

I haven't pulled it out to check it yet.  Any thoughts prior?

If not all the way out, could it be binding up.

Reel spins freely by hand, no binding no lockup when not under power.

I haven't pulled the shore power reel yet and won't today, but did a little research.

My model: TDI Products Shoreline Reel Model RV503601
If I can't fix it, replacement is Southwire RH54331RMK

Pics of motor and gears here on the RV503601: Repairing Shore Power Cable Power Reel - Page 2 - Electrical - FMCA RV...    "most" people had broken gear, but the motor would spin (unless jammed) if that was imy case.

With electric reel slip rings easily being damaged when reel is moved when high wattage items are powered, like what could happen if the shore cable is stepped on or moved, or with campground breaker is on, some have removed reel and manually stow cable in the bay. It saves money and bay space when reels are removed.

Fixed. Self created mis-wiring problem when resolving other issues behind top panel in pumbing bay.  When I pulled the top panel down all the short wires for hots and grounds on water fill, water pump, shore power retract  all pulled loose.

I "assumed" one hot and one ground each for water pump and for cord retract switches.  Not the case. 2 grounds for water pump, 2 hots for cord retract. Also 2 grounds on water fill.

"After" I finally figured it out I remembered reading in the past about water pump switching and relay.

I have now made those wires longer in each cases so they won't pull loose next time the top panel in plumbing bay is removed.

We went from the powered cord reel in the '03 to the tension-retract version in the 2000.  No way we'd ever do a loose 50 amp shore cord, and if we had the room I'd want Steve to replace the tension one with a powered on in the 2000.  I still haven't figured out the technique to get the tension one to behave the way I want it to, extending or retracting.
