Engine oil filters ISM500

Now have my coach just over a year. Looking at doing the annual maintenance including engine oil and filter change.  Find there are a lot of filter choices. Looking at some of the filter specs some are disappointing for filtration efficiency. There are also some presented as "dual flow" with a finer element to catch smaller particles.  Anyone have a preferred filter and why? Oil analysis to back up the choice(s)? Looking to do the best as reasonably possible. I installed a bypass filter set up on my last motor home. Will the dual flow filters eliminate that need? I will be using Mobil Delvac1 oil.

The Fleetguard 14000nn has been the standard but Cummins now has a higher recommended model 140001nn it is more expensive and I bought 2 of them and will use the second one next week and go back to the 14000nn for the price after that.

I didn't see any mileage improvement and still changing oil at about 6,000 miles really don't need it in my opinion and your icon should be laughing.

I don't think you can go wrong with a Fleetguard filter but I have always used NAPA Gold 7746XD.  Mostly because I seem to get good prices on them and also because it feels like a high quality filter.  I recently bought 6 of them, n.o.s. off of Ebay.  I send an oil sample to  Cummins every time and it always comes back good.

If you have the correct part # any filters from the major suppliers will meet the proper specs. I don't know how far ahead I would buy filters. I recently rebuilt my air dryer, some of the NOS kits I found where Over 5 years old, no thanks.

This is the filter that is on it now. It was installed By Premier RV when I purchased the coach last year. It is actually a Wix filter. I know that the micron rating is only one part of a filters performance package. I was disappointed that it is only rated for 35 microns.

This is an extended length version with the "Dual Flow" filtration.
Looks like the full flow is down to 20 microns and the secondary is 5.
Anyone has experience with this? The standard length is the BD7154.
It looks like this is also high priced.

I'm also running the Fleetguard LF14000NN.  I send an oil analysis to Blackstone Labs every 5k.  After 5k, they have told me it looks good and to run it another 5k.  At the 10k mark, I sent another sample and they said it could go another 2k before being checked again.  I decided to change oil/filter anyway.  I've also had them check the trans, just to know.  To me, it's good preventative maintenance for $40.

I agree on NOS filters.  As filters age, the adhesives used start to break down and could result in unexpected media failure.  This is one of the reasons Brett and others will advise changing the air filter at least every 3 years, even if the filter minder claims you're good.

At the last Foretravel Grandvention in Kansas, Big Mike, with Spartan, talked for 2 hrs. on maintaining of your coach.  He said filters, air, water, and fuel should be no older then 2 years when Installing. He did say where he got that information from but I don't remember who it was.

I had fuel filters that must have been in my coach for 3 to 7 years.  When I got home I chunked them in the trash and bought new. Now when the filters get changed I will use those and get new ones to carry.

I use Napa Gold. Last oil change when I get home, as we will be selling coach since we both have medical issues.
