Transient suppressor

I have been looking at transient suppressors online and oem Cummins is 270.00 aftermarket is around 180.00 has anyone replaced with a aftermarket. I am thinking both likely are made offshore, since  it's not a common item do not think there many manufacturers, as far as warranty i think Cummins is a year and probably wouldn't honor a warranty since it wasn't installed in a Cummins shop

Thanks

Mike,

If you search ""transient suppressors" there is a page of replacement info. It will be simpler for you to search than me to copy and paste here as there is one page of info.

I don't know if the M 11 uses them. On an ISC CUMMINS it helps suppress voltage spikes between the injector pump and the ECM ( engine control module) if tir fails it can take out the injector pump/and or the ECM. Now ask me how I know $$$$&

And the worst thing about it is there is no good way of knowing whether yours is bad until something fails like the ECM or fuel pump. Ours was replaced along with the fuel pump, and if I still have the coach after five years I plan on replacing it again just in case.

Mine threw a code and turned the check engine light on. After researching the code on this great forum it pointed me to the transient suppressor.

Basically acts as a capacitor for signals and voltage spikes as it relates to the ECM/CAPS system. Electronic components can and do go bad with age. As the CAPS fuel systems have their many demons, like my FASS pump Upgrade, I figured it was best at 24 years of age to also replace the TS. I replaced mine last year and was able to find OE 3944110 At ,
Diesel Truck Performance Parts & Upgrades | Pure Diesel Power for $162, but looking at their site now is $271

However a quick search shows it below for $167

When I paid $162 it was OEM.

My link for $167 states Cummins brand.

I used butt connector with heat shrink. Due to vibration. Jim.

Was the $167 NOT OE? the link clearly states it is cummins brand.

I soldered in much longer leads as they are incredibly short to start with then attached a 2 pin connector to each,(filled with dielectric grease) to make for easier changing in the future.
