Ice Maker Woes

Our ice maker has suddenly started dumping water instead of ice.  It seems that all of the ice is not coming out of the tray, and when it begins to fill, the water overflows into the ice basket.  It may have something to do with the tray warmer, but we can't figure out how to get the front cover off.  Can anyone help with this?

This may not be what you are looking for.  We removed our ice make all together and gained more room in the freezer.  Occassionally we buy a bag of ice.

The front cover is a friction fit.  So, with enough pulling and prying, it will slip off.  The mechanism behind the cover is probably not going to reveal the problem.

My memory of water dripping out of the mold is from buildup in the mold that is hard to remove.  Replacing the mold mechanism is one fix for that issue.  It comes with a special tube of caulk type of product you smear all over the cold plate to transfer the cold into the mold.

However, call Philip Covalt at AER Supply in Seabrook, TX (281.474.3276).  AER is a marine distributor for U-Line ice makers that stock the ice mold mechanism plus have a sister company that can repair them.  He will be a good resource to use to figure out what you want to do.  He will be able to tell you if the parts are the same as AER is also a Dometic marine distributor.

Plus if he has the part needed, it will be well below retail price.

Hope this helps.
