Water Filter System

No, seriously!
I've found that after awhile at some campgrounds or other water supply points, the water is so hard that the soap doesn't later.  This is not good for the system either.  I made a portable set-up like your permanent (or, looking at it, semi-permanent) system but mine is in a milk crate (temporarilly).  I also picked up a RV water softener, which is also in the milk crate.
They are both looking for a permanent home, although the others "stuff" are protesting violently.

Good Morning Purplehazebdb  I am curious about your softwater set up, your own or store purchase. I went to the RV WATER FILTER STORE IN YUMA this past Jan.  and bought this setup, first filter is a clear canister that catches dirt,minerals, and metal particles. (micron 5)
(The clear canister stays out of the sunlight) Second filter removes contaminates that affect taste and ordor. (micron 5)

Mine starts like yours, the "white" filter tha traps sediment, then the charcoal (or other "exotic" filter that is on sale at Home Depot or Lowes).  Then it goes into the softener.  Mine is a Interstate Water Systems "Micro 300XL".  It is a cylinder about 18" high and you manually "clean" it with table salt.
Everything resides in a small milk crate and is looking for a cozy home in one of the bays.  The problem is servicing them.  I take the softener, put salt in it, shake it (the directions do not say that you have to shake it) and we get soft water, good for the body, good for the system.
I "salt" it when the boss says the shampoos don't lather to her specs.

last year I installed a reverse osmosis system in my coach. it is mounted in the water compartment.  I installed a transformer and a 24 volt pump, and a low pressure cut
off switch (in case the water supply is shut off while filling the tank). the overflow is
plumbed into the sewer discharge past the sewer valves, so I have to be hooked up to sewer
or somewhere that the excess water can run off.  it takes about 20 hours to fill the tank. 
I think it is one of the best improvements I've made to the coach.  no more grunge in the
shower, no more spots on the dishes.  I can now wash the coach and my toad with pure
spot free water.  the only downside is that the pump has to be run anytime you run water
in the coach.

Do you have pictures or other details regarding installation of the RO system? I ordered an RO system for our 1997 U295. I expect to receive the system this week. I hope to install it before we leave on on July 6, for our first "big" trip in the "new to us" U295.

I expect to mount the RO system in the "reel bay." I have no reels, but do have a drawer and a shelf. I expect the RO system will fit the if I remove the shelf and/or drawer. I ordered a kit with three canister filters, two RO modules, pump, and float switch to turn off the pump when the tank is full.

I would be pleased to get more information about your installation.

I removed the shelf and cut it down in size, and was able to reinstall it a bit higher after
the r.o. system was installed.  mine is mounted on the aft side of the "reel compartment".
I also have no reels.  the fill is plumbed into the top of the tank. I also have a 24 volt pump
and a transformer mounted on the shelf.  this is necessary if you are in mexico or other
places with little or no water pressure. the low pressure switch will save the 24 volt pump
if the water supply is stopped.  I have no float cutoff switch, but the water fills so slowly
that even if it overflows for awhile not much water is wasted.
I will add some pictures today, if I can figure out how to do it.
