Do I need house batteries when connected to shore power?

I am planning on replacing my house batteries, but I would like to take them out charge them individually and load test them first.
Will everything still work in the coach as long as I am connected to shore power?

Thanks.

While I am inclined to say yes, I really am not sure.  I look forward to learning the correct answer.

If the Batteries are disconnected then everything that runs on 12vdc will not operate.

If you are going to load test them, take them out one at a time and leave the others in, or if the amp draw is low, leave the boost on and pull the house batts.

Dick, I would think that the inverter/charged could be damaged if not turned off while you had the batteries out.  Testing them takes only a few minutes.  Buy a load  tester for 50 to 80 bucks, shut everything off after charging the batteries, pull the cables, test them and reconnect.  If you have to replace the batteries take the old out put in the new and then return the cores to the p[arts house.
Good luck

Someone (Brett Wolfe I think) told me not to have the coach on shore power with the batteries disconnected after I got away with it a time or two without doing damage to anything. However, the smart converter charger (PD 9260) I just installed after nearly destroying a new 8D AGM battery do to overcharging says in the literature that it can provide clean 12V to the coach without the house battery present.  I'm still not going to chance it though.

The answer is "IT DEPENDS".

Some converters and charges work OK with the batteries disconnected, others DO NOT.

Read the owners manual on YOU converter, charger or inverter charger, as what applies to another brand or model does not necessarily apply to yours.
