Bay door open on I-5!

We had a near disaster the other day while traveling north from  Stockton, CA to Redding, CA on  I-5.  North of Stockton a car passed us and the passenger gestured out the window.....  sort of pointing to the side of the road.  While we were trying to figure out what he was trying to communicate, a commercial truck came up beside us and the driver did the same thing.  A few seconds later my wife Pat noticed that one of the driver's side bay doors was fully open (i.e., 90 degrees to the side of the coach).  What a mess that would have been if someone would have hit it or if something had fallen out into on coming traffic!  We pulled over immediately and I closed the door and made sure it was latched.

I'm not sure what happened, but just before this happened we drove over some very rough pavement.  At the time it didn't seem to be that bad, but it could have shook the the door open, especially if it was not fully closed.  After that close call I am making sure each bay is secured and locked by pulling on the lower corner of each door and checking the lock.  I found two that did not lock with the fob, but they do lock with the key.  I also check the upper corners visually.  Too bad it took this incident to make me this careful!  I continue to learn!
