U-line ice maker repair info

My U-Line icemaker has been producing cubes since the purchase of our FT three years ago.  Suddenly this past month it produced one batch of ice and then "nada"...

Since the WX is not the best over this Memorial Day weekend in NE GA I decided to pursue a proper fix.  I just performed normal maintenance as prescribed in the U-Line owners manual, and I'm currently waiting for cubes. The unit cools enough and even a thin sheet of ice forms on the underside of the icemaker.  However, I  can not feel any water in the icemaker tray.

I searched the forum archive and found Dave Head's excellent repair information in Foretravel Forum message #6032 (partially quoted below).  I'm hoping that my problem is not my mold heater.

Hey!!! cubes just dropped!! Listening for more.

If not the mold heater, are there any other ideas out there??

Thanks team!

If your U-line ice maker freezes ice, but fails to eject (more than once
or twice), your mold heater has failed. Not only had this happened to
mine, but the plastic coating in the mold had failed. The aluminum
corroded and it was just a mess...

U-Line STATUS Update...

This morning I have a full bin of ice cubes!!

I'm thinking that my trouble may be centered around the bale which controls the
production of more ice. My bale does not remain in the "Up" position when
raised. While performing maintenance yesterday I did manipulate the bale a
couple times to try and get it to remain in the "Up" position without luck. Now
I have a full bin of ice cubes.

We'll see what happens in the future.
