HWH Leveling

I was wondering about when I work on my coach, can I raise the air bags with the HWH compressor ? Or do I have to start the Engine ?    I'm getting ready to do the Bulk Head repair. thanks  Art

I find the Aux Compressor struggles when trying to use it to raise the coach.
It takes quite awhile & it feels like I am over taxing it.

Be sure to review the topic Working Safely around your Foretravel before going under your coach.

Yes, the 12 VDC compressor will raise the coach. Yes, it will be slower than running the engine to use the main compressor. I would prefer to use the 12 VDC compressor to raise the coach rather than start the engine and let it run for only a few minutes in order to raise the coach.

Choose your method to raise the coach, but be sure to place safety blocks before you go under it!

When I started the bulkhead repair I turned on the ignition to the first position , turned HWR to Manuel,  tried to raise right rear & left rear , could hear compressor come on but the height did not change , What did I do wrong ?    Art

Art,
If you have air in the tanks, you don't need to set the ignition to the first position...do this only if you intend to start the engine (watch how you use your batteries).  The HWH system will work if the main battery switch is "on".  If you don't have air (you've been stopped for a few days), the HWH compressor would certainly labor to get the volume of air to the pressure needed to lift the coach.

Our coach starting exhibiting that symptom shortly after we got it. The problem was a dirty solenoid in the compressor moisture purging chamber. I managed to clean it without removing the compressor. There was a recent discussion of the issue. A couple of people posted pictures.

If you can get to the compressor, see if you can feel air escaping when it is running. The compressed air should be going to the leveling system. If it is escaping through the moisture valve, a bad hose, or a bad fitting, the compressor will not raise the coach.

What does this plastic jar/bottle do? It's part of HWH system.

Art,

You did the right thing, but think of the compressor as only a trimming tool.  It is not intended to replenish a low air system.  It will shut down by itself in 30 minutes.  Just start the engine, build up air pressure, and then manually raise the coach.
