I got to wondering how many of us are the original owner of our coach

So many of us use the phrase "new-to-me" Foretravel that I thought it would be interesting to see how many of us bought our Foretravel new.

I am just a poor guy.  I am owner number 3 of my coach.  Purchased new here in California from Brad Nerhus when he was working at the Foretravel dealer in So. Cal according to his brother Tom.  I am getting the itch for a road trip since we have been home bound since before Christmas.

I bought this 95 U280 from the original owners widow, with the settlement revenue from the insurance company on my 85 ORED that was totaled.  .  This coach was the Show coach in Pauyullap (sp) Washington in the fall of 95.

To quote Scott, "I am just a poor guy.  I am owner number 3 of my coach."  I brought mine from a "broker" who represented owner #2.  He tried to misrepresent it as a U300 on Ebay, but with the help of a few of you, I discovered his faults and was able to cut myself a really good deal.

This is interesting.  46 people have read this post and roughly 1/3rd have responded.  I don't know if that is fairly typical or not.

Pat was 90 when he decided he would upgrade his 95 295 to an 04 295 with slides. He told me that he thought he had 5 good years of rv'ing left and he wanted a new coach. He and his wife Bonnie got their wish and We bought his 95. I sold his 04 for him last year and they are now enjoying life in Pacific Beach. We miss their energy and enthusiasm at our chapter rallies.

He recently gave me a set of pictures taken when they were attending the 94 Buddy Rally when his 95 was under construction.

George,
There may be some visitors that view the post or members who don't yet own a Foretravel.  This may contirbute to the difference.  Also I have now viewed this post twice by posting this message after I posted my poll choice.  Every time you go back and check on the post, it registers a "view".

Actually, that's 46 views, not necessarily 46 different users.  I know I've looked at it each time there's a new post added to the thread.

We're the second owners of our coach.  First owners had it a year and a half, then they decided to build an S&B near the grandkids.  We bought it May 2004 and we're fixin' to hold onto it for quite a while longer (especially as we keep upgrading it).

Along the same lines; I wonder how many of us are on our 2nd or 3rd (more?) Foretravel?

We are the 2nd owners of our 97. Original owners had this coach built with some custom work done to fit their lifestyle.

To answer Jeff S. we are on our 2nd F/T.

George,
Looks like we are in the minority ............once again!
Our coach is our first and only motorcoach (or any other form of RV).
We researched many mid to high end coaches and talked with SOBs and Foretravel owners for six years before deciding on a model and year of Foretravel (Call that - Nuclear Engineering Quality, Design, Value, Safety and Risk Analysis Syndrome.  DW has other, less generous descriptions for it).
We "bargained"  at several of the Foretravel Stores for four years before Vicki Reese, in the Tampa store, in July of 1998, put together the right deal (Call that - English/Scotch Penny-pinching syndrome).
Our coach was brand new, untitled and the only miles on it were from Nac to Tampa.  Actually Nac sent the two U270's to Tampa that we were considering; our 1998 mechanical 8.3 and a new 1999 electronic  8.3 ISC .  We could have had either coach for about the same money, but risk analysis said take the mechanical and KISS.  We have not been sorry, save one issue - the inability to use the Silverleaf information technology.
Our coach was one of the last new coaches sold out of the Tampa Foretravel Store before Connelly took over the Florida Foretravel Sales and Service functions in August of 1998.
We intended to keep our coach for three years and then trade up to a 40 or 42' with slide(s) to retire with.  We now have 149K miles and 12.5 years on the coach and can't say enough good about the coach or our years of association with Foretravel and the FT MC Club.
We nearly traded to other FT's on two or three occasions, but we could never justify spending LARGE money, just to give up many things that (for us) are more ideal in our current coach.

On the other hand, we are not noted for a life filled with risk taking and misadventures.  DW proposed  to me in sixth grade, I gave up resisting (a very short) ten years later, we've been married 46 years, I've had but one career path (DW has had two - she's the wild one) and some even call us "stable".  Thus we may not be "in tune with the times" and our judgment may be highly suspect!

I consider myself the second owner of my U300 coach. It does have a history behind it though. Being built in November of 1993 and completed early in 1994 it is titled as a 1994.  I believe it was ordered new by someone in California, however they did not take delivery of the coach. It appears to have been put on the market and purchased by Roy Green of the Lakeland, FL area early in 1994 and either kept at the factory or returned to the factory for extensive upgrades, including his name engraved on the door handle. Between 1994 and 2006 he put only 30,000 miles on the coach, He kept it stored in a air conditioned garage and waxed everything including the frame.  Somehow it went through an estate liquidation and wound up at a consignment dealer in the Jacksonville, Fl area, where I was fortunate enough to discover an,

I am driving my 4th Foretravel Motorcoach. In reading the results of the poll, so far, I am surprised to learn that they come "new"! I have seen unowned Foretravels at shows and dealers but was truly unaware that anyone bought them. This is a real epiphany! Always wondered how they advanced from "new" to"preowned". How about that!
