Roland what's the name of the Cummins shop in Scarborough? I don't need any work done right now but it would be good to know of a nearby shop for future work.

Never mind. Google found it for me.

Over the past three weeks while at Nac, I had the Aqua Hot totally rebuilt by Rudy Legett, total cost about $1,100.00 included new 12 V motor, fuel pump, fan bearings and many other little items, Told Rudy to make it new again, not fix it for a week or two.
Rudy did a very fine job and the unit purrs smooth and quiet Yeah! !  ;D
Then FOT Body & Paint Shop,  New Fog Lights, repair damage from a road side barrel I had been forced in to, then had the new Armour Shield installed on front.
Now have a new looking coach again, returned home with no scratches and the Aqua Hot working great, what a three week vacation.  :)

Matt - I note the sad face - hopefully just because it means you don't have a trip in the immediate future.

A more formal announcement will be made later.  We are selling GrandZilla, our beloved FT (and two homes, jet skis and a boat, books, guitars, etc) and moving to Arizona.  Time for a regrouping and restructuring.  The last several years have not been kind to us financially.

I spent the morning boxing up our travel clothes, kitchen items, etc.  We have done 48 states in the last 6 years, so we had some great times.  Boxing up the stuff was very sad, but we will have a new adventure soon.  Thanks for asking.

Not sure if they will actually have to replace both the turbo and the cylinder head. Because of the exhaust leak they don't believe the turbo is spooling up correctly. As to the head it depends on how many head bolts have been broken. We always let the engine idle for two or three minutes before we shut down, but I'm have now clue what the previous owners did.

Changed the engine oil/filter & replaced the house pump. I installed a sureflo extreme 5.7. the old one was a sureflo 4 with a bladder tank. the flow and pressure are much better and it is dead quiet.

Had my mechanic buddy trouble shoot my aquahot.  Bad coil.  Replaced. Needs to run to burn off the oil in the burner.  Replaced the three drain valves below the manablock.  Replaced both tank valves with new valterra parts sent by mike grimes at FOT.  Was already a new one on the grey but it leaked. We will see.

Replaced rear a/c cover as it disappeared.  Replaced shade over center entry door as it was torn at the top.  Readjusted the fuel gauge.  Second half reads low.  Still looks the same?

Tried to install a new voltage regulator for the gen but the mechanic said does not match the current install and needs a wiring diagram.  Voltage fluctuates.  115-120.

Still need the main chassis air controller replaced as the valve sticks sometimes and the air pressure drops until the brakes come on. Main fuel line is cracked.  Next week.

The voltage regulator should have two pots, one for voltage setting and one for stability.

Installed a new hot stick into the Atwood water heater after flushing the tank.  Will use it when we have electric power when plugged in camping.  Might save enough propane some day to pay for the new up-grade.

Turned into a job when trying to find and route 120 volt power along the galley wall.  I have a totally new understanding of what is inside and behind all the walls, floors, trim, cover boards.  I had every drawer out, and was able to just reach my way under or behind to get the 120 volt from the cabinet under the refer. where vacuum power plugs into a duplex.  There are not many places to find 120 power in these coaches.

Replaced the sink top water filter while I had everything apart as well.  Good for another year.

Worked on installing a 50 amp service for the coach. Also prepped lower drive for a new gravel base with re-claim pavement surface for a nice spot to park it.

I will be glad to get all the home-base work done so I can start actual coach projects.

Mostly finished installing and tested Magnum AGS-S automatic generator start. Seems to work properly. Still need to spiff up a few details and calibrate settings.

Found that a schematic was wrong and the associated relay function table was correct in the installation manual. :headwall: Also found out the our single solar panel works and has no disconnect switch or fuse. Covered it with a couple of ground cloths to kill voltage to the house 12V circuits while I installed the AGS-S. I don't like sparky surprises when I splice wires.

Finally finished the alternator... what a debacle! Ran a wire from the remote start switch to the sense node of the Hehr alternator after removing the jumper that had the alternator trying to bring the batteries up to full level while sensing through a silicon diode. I suspect that was what did the alternator in; plus it's not in the best spot for cooling anyway.

In the throes of the installation we touched a green wire that attached to some device on the top of a filter (just ahead of the alternator and slightly below it). Dunno what the wire did but the connection (and wire) was so corroded that we had grind off the attaching screw and then ended up grinding down the tang so we could just press-fit a new connector onto it. We assume that many wires are almost ready to let go; we've found three that didn't last.

The DW also installed a set of seat belts for the bucket seat (behind the co-pilot) which will give us seat belts for 5 (two on the sofa).

Ran the generator for 20 minutes.

Put out the awning. This wasn't the first day suitable for putting the awning out but it was the first day that we were actually there working on the coach. Three small holes very close together. DW suggested that it was a campfire that someone set too close.

Bought another set of LEDs for the clearance lights; some of which are no longer working.

Long day... glad we got so much done.

Finally got around to installing snaps on the 18' Zip Dee awning and the Paddy Sun shield we bought in Mission, TX.
Ground up a driving iron so we can use it as a pull down for the awnings.
Got some 5" pitons( those things like large key rings that climbers use) and made a better safety belt to hook onto the assist handles just below the windshield so I can wash the windshield handsfree without falling off. Sudden stops at 69+11/12s can hurt.

Gary, you might have heard the old saying that : "Even God can't hit a #2 iron straight."
I know I sure couldn't!! So, rather than let it languish in a dark corner in the garage or suffer disappointment at the garage sales, being a leftie, I thought I would follow your advice so I gave it a new life.

The coach went in for a lube and oil change this morning.  Excellent service at the Sacramento 49er Truck Service Center, at I-80 and West El Camino exit.  They do a 31 point service including oil and coolant analysis for $249.99.  Includes oil and filters.  Very clean shop and a well trained tech.

Bob,

One thing you need to tell even good shops is NOT to lube the Bendix air brakes!  They get CLAY-BASED GREASE ONLY.  And normally only once during their life.

I have seen a reasonable number of coaches I have inspected with red grease coming out of the caliper slide zirks.

Those holes in the awning that you thought were caused by a campfire were actually put there by zip dee to let out water, but that will not save the awning in a down pour

As most people read this thread I think more than any other, I just want to take this moment to thank both Brett W and Wyatt publicly for their recent help in PM's (many) to me regarding my 2  little problems that are now working fine. Their input to possible problems was great, and just solidifies my feelings about this Forum. I am not forgetting all the other members that have helped on earlier issues at all, just that this was really bugging me and wanted to say it openly.
You are all great people to have as friends in times of need.
