The 110v outlets on either side on the foot of the bed just never seemed like it was well thought out for practical use. Today I install an extra 20 amp breaker in the aux power panel on the base of the bed and ran two lines from it to each side of the bed. I installed a 110v outlet on the face of the cabinets next to the top drawer on both sides.

There was a phone plug in outlet on the drivers side. I removed that and a power outlet box fit right in where the phone outlet was. I don't think many people use them anymore with all the cell phones in use now days. Now it is easier to plug in a heating pad or a cell battery charger without getting tangled up in a cord while getting up in the middle of the night as some of us old timers tend to do.

I also removed the old strip lights that are on the kitchen and bathroom baseboards and installed the 12v strip lights available at WalMart.

Our coach came with sockets installed near the head of the bed. Previous owner installed them. We use them often for chargers and bed heater.

About two years ago, I replaced the original VCR with a DVD/VCR combo unit. The new unit lacks the RF modulator output to channel 3 or 4. I use an HDMI cable from the VCR/DVD to the front TV but could not get the signal to the rear TV.
So yesterday I replaced the OEM video control box with a Quest Technology Model QS53D box that has separate inputs for satellite, park cable, and antenna. Plus, it has a RF modulator that sends the DVD/VCR combo unit signal to the rear TV on channel 3.
Today I fixed one of our Fantastic Fans. The lift arm popped out of its gear box where it was geared into the open/close knob.

Was at my daughter's soccer game yesterday and went to turn the coach on.  Nothing.  Messed around with the switch a few times and got the solenoid to engage.  Luckily the former owner had a spare lying around so I was able to change the solenoid today and she lit up like a Xmas tree immediately.  So nice when things go right the first time.  Now I need to purchase another back up solenoid.  Have heard it suggested to get the solid state device.  Will probably end up ordering sometime this month and just replace with that so never have to do it again when this one goes bad.

Washed her today. Darn those maple trees! Need to fill LP bottles and wash windows then settle in for Thanksgiving. Friday heading to Vero Beach, FL for a SOWERS project. Stopping along the way to see friends and family. Takes a week to go 1300 miles. Hope all have a great Holiday season.

The other day we cleaned the interior and exterior ("Wash Wax All" - good stuff). Aired tires, flushed tanks, filled with fuel etc and then put it into it's warm warehouse for the winter. WHAAAAA! sob.

I just took ours out for a drive, put some fuel in and started to think what I should check before we start to load it up for our trip south in 27 days. I am going thru all the ares that could pose a problem while on road, but so far all looks well, and it drives really smooth and fast. Whant a drag Dave M?

Hey! We plan to be traveling north past your "southern home" about December 20. You could "un-winterize" and tag along. We know where there are campgrounds in Missouri and Montana that are open year round. Bring your heated water hose and down jackets. :P :P Dogs love to run in the cold air ... and then come inside a warm coach.

J.D. is my hero.  I've always wanted to spend at least one winter where it gets truly cold. And snow, lots of it. I say give me enough propane, books and liquor, some sun during the days and trails to hike and I'll be as happy as a pig in.....  I've been vetoed many times on this but guess what?  It's my turn to choose.  Though it's cooled down here in Tx I'm still hot from the blistering summer we had. Eternal summer is overrated.

Yesterday, I moved the 12 volt battery switch from the bottom step to the top step. I also cut a 6.5 inch diameter hole where the 12 volt battery switch used to be and installed a 6 inch diameter spin off access door (used in boats). This allows easy access to the airbag fittings and nut on the front passenger side. I cut a 4 inch by 8 inch hole in the rear wall of the generator fan compartment to provide easy access to the diver side front air bag fitting and nut.

Today, I replaced all four front airbags without removing the fenders.

I now have easy access to all the airbag fittings to check for leaks.

I previously replaced the rear airbags in the spring of 2012.

During the summer, I removed the start battery bank which was behind the passenger side rear tires. Then rebuild the start battery tray so that it can hold two 8D sized batteries. I installed two 8D deep cycle batteries in this tray. I installed one 8D deep cycle battery in the original tray, which is behind the driver side front tire. I then rewired the very heavy battery cables so that there are three deep cycle 8D size batteries for coach and starting functions. This provides 3500 cold cranking amps (original optima size 34 batteries provided 2400 cold cranking amps) and more then 700 amp hours for coach functions. Battery isolator and boost functions are no longer used and all the watts from the alternator reach the batteries (none are lost in the isolator diodes).

I did a lot of testing/measuring and found that with this setup, the voltage at the starter during steady state cranking with a cold engine was raised from 10.5 volts (three optimas) to 11.5 volts (three 8Ds).

luckily I (like others) already have 3  8D for coach (AGM)765amph, but just the 2 regulat AGMs for  cranking. The charging direct from Alt would be nice as I  had turned down the voltage also on Alt output. I think I will leave all this part alone as I have a few things already on the go for this winter, and next will be the floor replacement in living area. just got back my first oil analasys and had trouble reading it but now they sent me a chart showing good-bad levels and most of mine do not even register on the chart so am pleased and will keep the oil in for another trip and test again in the spring. Happy with the syn Amsoil I use.

Well...not me doing it, but Xtreme is busy prepping our coach for full body paint, roof paint, new headlights, new steps, new windows, etc., and we are staying in their apartment over the holidays.  Being at Xtreme feels sort of like we are visiting the Stallings family.

And Nac actually has quite a bit going on in the holiday season, plus I've got lots of projects if there is any time in the shop, so no danger of boredom here!
