Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #603 – December 05, 2012, 09:14:06 am Headed to the storage facility and cared for a couple of things prior to our next trip after Christmas. Installed a fridge fan - simple but not alot of wire to work with where it connected to the light. Also replaced the handle on the Splendide. Looks very similar to the previous one so not sure how long this one will last if pulled at the wrong time... Quote Selected

I had to get on the web first to research plane geometry, my mind is ancient and couldn't remember all the relationships between angles and sides of a triangle. Would still be scratching my head if not for the web. Roland Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #607 – December 09, 2012, 01:49:26 pm Put in a new car stereo. I got the JVC KDR 530. It has a rear aux hook up and I plan to replace the CRT (old panasonic OEM) with a new LED TV and use the jack on the back of the new stereo to run the speakers from the new TV to the Stereo. This will give me "surround sound" on a budget. I do like the sounds of the new JVC which hooks up well with the iphone. I have to admit I did not put in the stereo. Got it from Best Buy and had them put it in. I am now ready for Rockin down the Road! LOL Quote Selected

Reply #608 – December 17, 2012, 12:24:52 pm After mooching some used cargo door handles from another member (there initials are: Steve & Michelle) when they upgraded to chrome, we removed the cargo door latch that was causing us grief and did surgery on it. We were able to take the good handle along with the tumbler and brackets out of ours and make a handle that functions properly. Thanks to Steve & Michelle for gifting us with there old latches.Pamela & Mike Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #610 – December 17, 2012, 08:47:33 pm Decided it was time to put in a new air filter on the genset. GRRRR! Had a friend hold the nut while I undid the clamp on the main body. Got the filter out without TOO much trouble but it fell behind the genset and had to get the filter housing off to get it out. Went to the sotre to get a new filter and have to wait as they didn't have one. Let's see, maybe FOT could have welded a thick sheet of metal in front of the genset so that when I ope the front All I would see is this metal. Yes, that would make it more difficult. Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #613 – December 31, 2012, 01:35:59 am Cleaned the coach up today( 93 u300) after a one week trip (actually our maiden voyage) to Legion state park in Louisville, Ms. This was our first real trip since bringing it home from alabama in march. I've been working on various issues that needed to be addressed on the coach and I finally have some time off from work to have some fun! Having your own business leaves precious little time for anything else as I am sure many of you know first hand! Everything went great and other than losing a hubcap and some burned out lights had no major breakdowns or problems. I did have the rear bulkhead bolts fixed a week prior to my trip as I inspected them and noticed several broken ones and some separation. I went to Johnson Diesel Home Page in biloxi just off I-10 and they drilled and added about 15 new bolts with access holes. The job cost about $600 which I thought was fair considering the work involved and I didn't have the tools nor the time to fix it properly. The guys at Johnson diesel were great and I will give more info on a later post. I did take Pierce's advice and found the guys that work on most of the fire trucks and school busses in this area for Detroit owners. Thanks Pierce. It did get down to 25 one night but since we used a duraflame electric fireplace the propane furnaces didn't even have to light up to keep us warm! The thick curtains and the heavily insulated walls and floor were excellent as the wind howled outside with heavy rain for two days. Another testimonial to the quality and craftsmanship of these magnificent well built machines. Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #619 – January 01, 2013, 08:33:14 pm Thanks Jimmy. It was nice to finally be in an actual campground instead of visiting the U300 in the storage facility for the afternoon pretending we were camping, lol. Everything went very well. I was anxious to see how everything would work out when day to day activities were added. Pleasantly surprised that it is so easy to keep neat. There's so much room, everything has its place. I just love the DuraFlame heater Jerry mentioned. It adds so much coziness at night and kept it really toasty inside the coach. So, all in all, even with the 2 days of non-stop rain, it was an enjoyable trip and already looking forward to the next one. Probably not till July and hopefully to Nac to have the 2 remods I want.Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year celebration.Cindy Quote Selected
