Aqua Hot bedroom control

I was exercising my Aqua Hot and cant get the bedroom zone to work. On the 5 button control I don't see a separate bedroom control. when the furnace is selected on the control on zone 1 does this set the temp. on the bedroom as well?

Ask Rudy Legett!  Awesome AH repair guy.

Michelle of Michelle and Steve keeps  a rubber mallet close at hand is known to give things a thump now and then.  You might try that!  Stuck valve maybe?

My Aqua Hot system uses the #2 setting for the bedroom, heating or cooling, no need for a hammer. Also #1 is for the front end/kitchen area, bathroom is on the manual thermostat in bathroom, also there is a thermostat in the water bay you can tweak.
And do not forget the engine heat part of the Aqua Hot too.

Ours is also as Dave described. On the 5 button control we select Zone 2 for the bedroom area, set the Mode to Furnace, and adjust to desired temperature (you might have to set this pretty high if the ambient temperature is warm).

I can jump the relay on the aqua hot and get it to work but not via the thermostat. I am familiar with the aqua hot operation but not sure what Foretravel and the 5 button control relationship. I suspect a control wire or sensor issue in the bedroom. Does anyone know what the #s should range on the ohm meter?

Phil, I do not have Aqua but I think the controls on wall are same and to select the bedroom setting you have to press the 2 top buttons at the same time to get the next zone, then you can make your settings for that area.

When I go to zone 2 there is no option for furnace?? Guess that my be the issue? Last year when we used it every thing was new and I am not sure if the bedroom was operating or not.

Every coach is setup slightly differently.

How many thermostats do you have in your coach and what type are they?

How many roof A/C units?

If the rear ac was replaced maybe the furnace dip switch did not get turned on or if someone converted from 4 button to 5 button when the upper board was replaced the furnace dip switch did not get turned on. That is access by removing the upper shroud and then on the passenger side of the coach there is a metal panel about 6 inches square that can be removed by takng out 2 screws that take a 5/16 hex head to see if the furnace dip switch is turned on. Please turn off power to the rear ac before working on it to prevent being shocked.

Your thermostat should look like photo in attachment.

To change zones, push "Zone" button.  The zone number that is flashing is the zone that you are in.

The photo is from my coach.  3 A/C + 3 Heat zones.  You may only have 2 zones.

How about furnace on zone 3?

What zone is your rear A/C unit on?

Has the rear heat EVER worked since you owned the coach?

Is there a simple wall mount thermostat in the bathroom?

Good question as to wether it ever worked. I cant say. We live in Miami and we did a trip to New England last year and going again this year. WE where learning allot  we had just purchased it and cant say for sure if it worked or not but I suspect it did not. There is a control in the bathroom and it is fine.

This gets real tough from here.  I am going to have Art Twaddell take over.  He knows a lot more than I do about the Dometic thermostats work.  He is a Dometic dealer.

It could be that when your coach was switched from (original) 4 button thermostat to your new 5 button thermostat it was not properly wired.

Basically, the control board inside the cover of the roof mounted A/C (on the roof), controls the Aqua-Hot.  There are DIP switches on this board that need to be properly set.  There is a wire that goes to the Aqua-Hot to send a command to turn on the (rear) heating zone.  I think you have a problem with the thermostat / wiring / setup.

Thanks, I am sure it is a control issue. look forward to FOT to open and talk to service for tec support. The good thing is all the systems work it is just a control issue.

You might try resetting the thermostat control:

To reset the Dometic 5-button thermostat:

Turn the ON/OFF switch to the "OFF" position.

Simultaneously depress and hold the MODE and ZONE

push-buttons and turn the ON?OFF switch to "ON".

"FF" should appear in the LCD display until the

MODE and ZONE push-buttons are released.

I am sure you are aware that to get the system to work you first select the zone.  The flashing number is the zone you are in.  Zone 2 is for the bedroom. Select the mode button and select furnace or what ever for your heat. Adjust your temperature next.  Now the important part.  You must make sure that zone 1 is on the same mode (furnace in this case) as zone 2. If the two zone modes are not in sync, it will not work.  Hope this helps.

Are the dip switches in the wall control on the roof unit set correctly?

See Comfort Control manual below (assume this is the right one), or as found in the Files section thanks to Barry B. The selected media item is not currently available.

edited to correct location of dip switches - thanks Roger!
