Installation of bidet

Here is some info on installing a Luxe Bidet (Neo 320) on a Sealand Traveler toilet.  We purchased the bidet from Amazon (Luxe Bidet Neo 320 (Elite Series) - Self Cleaning Dual Nozzle - Hot and Cold).  It fits the toilet perfectly and was not too difficult to plumb.  Also, it is not electric like many other models.  The bidet requires both hot and cold water, so I tapped into the adjacent sink 1/2" PEX water lines and used GatorBite T connectors.  I then ran the 1/2" PEX under the clothes hamper where it was terminated with a 1/2" GatorBite FNPT adapters.  From there I used 3/8 OD PVC tubing to the bidet using Watts Quick Connect adapters (PL3027 and PL3065).  I bought all the connectors at Lowes.  I drilled a 3/8" hole in plastic plugs and used them to line the hole through the plywood paneling for the tubing to the bidet.  See the pictures below.  The pipe insulation was used to keep the PEX and PVC  from rubbing against other stuff.

Lots of good reviews on Amazon!  Preliminary testing.... very good!  We have a TOTO Washlet model in our Tucson home and it seems to be at least as good as it.  It is a bit flimsy, so time will tell.

Our 1991 that we bought last summer had this bidet attachment installed. If you look closely, there is a small lever on the left that swings it out from under the bowl.

Yours is much nicer, this one is plumbed just to cold water. No one in my family has been brave enough to try it... :o

I'm just waiting for Carol S to chime in. I'm SURE she will have a story or two!

This thread could go south very quickly! :)

But a cold water only bidet is just plain mean!  George, I'm glad to see you opted for both warm and cold!

Actually, Ken, we do have much experience.  First bidet was in a home we built in Ann Arbor, MI back in the 70s, followed by one in an apartment in Belgium in the 80s.  These were both the European style that Dave M's reference graphically described (with soap and towels available nearby).  And yes, Carol, those were the type that you could wash feet--or socks--in!  In the 90s, we remodeled a master bath in our Anacortes, WA home with the same free-standing style of bidet.  In our New Mexico home in 2005, such a remodel was not feasible, so we opted for a Japanese brand (Toto) aftermarket bidet that replaces the seat/lid (http://www.totousa.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=301).  As it only t's into the cold water line, it requires an electrical outlet for water temperature and pressure control.  We brought this to the new winter home in Tucson, and it's a wonderful addition to the master bath.  As it is integrated into the toilet, it is much more "efficient", and eliminates the soap-and-towel requirement (ok, that's TMI, as the kids would say! :P )

But a cold water only bidet is just plain mean!  George, I'm glad to see you opted for both warm and cold!
Totally agree, Tom... I prefer caffeine for a morning wake-up, rather than a strategically aimed shot of cold water!!  :))

George ... I just don't know what to say. But now I know why you always seem as fresh as a daisy!  And you can wash your feet in that thing, too, right??
It is very effective for both "him" and "her" - so actually, Carol, we are both "daisy fresh"!

I was very skeptical about whether this would be a reasonable alternative to purchasing another pricey Toto washlet like we have in the house.  After a quick "test drive" this afternoon, I do think this will work quite well this summer in the coach!

Bottom line (yeah, yeah... pun intended!):  Once you tried a bidet, you'll totally understand the reason for this mod!

I think I will just encourage Jeff to go outdoors and stick the coachwashing hose up his pant leg.  Baby wipes are a less "labor intensive" alternative.  And this thread probably SHOULD be labeled "Uranus ... and NOT the planet!"

Then ... I looked at the features of the Toto model you referenced, Pat ... Holy Smokes!!

The ultimate in luxury. The Washlet S300 from TOTO.
New, cleaner look featuring hidden cord design
New reinforced base plate for enhanced durability  ..... seems like a fine idea
Gentle Aerated, Warm Water, Dual Action Spray with cycling movement and massage feature .... massage feature??
Adjustable water temperature and volume  ... totally necessary
Warm air drying with three variable temperature settings  .... sounds delightful!
Automatic air deodorizer  .... I can certainly get "behind" this!!
Convenient wireless Remote Control with large LCD panel  .... a commode with a REMOTE!!  Gotta love it! Stand back, folks!
SoftClose® anti-bacterial seat
Convenient Control Panel
Heated Seat with Temperature Control    .... Ahhhhhh
Docking Station Easy to Install and Clean  ...  Docking station?  Well, maybe it could be called that in the middle of the night.

Oh ... this is just too easy.

Actually, our model is 8 years old, so that's the closest link could find.  I gotta say, it's a bit like comparing an '05 U270 to a '13 IH-45... I had no idea there were so many more features... new and improved, indeed!

New, cleaner look featuring hidden cord design
Not on our "U270" model... am guessing it's like putting on roof rails to hide the awning! :))

New reinforced base plate for enhanced durability  ..... seems like a fine idea
Also not on the "U270"... maybe like replacing with Koni shocks?! :P

Gentle Aerated, Warm Water, Dual Action Spray with cycling movement and massage feature .... massage feature??
Definitely not on the "U270"... can only imagine... or maybe not! ::)

Adjustable water temperature and volume  ... totally necessary

Warm air drying with three variable temperature settings  .... sounds delightful!
Not a new feature... it's a nice idea, but you could probably read an entire novel in the time it takes to dry... it's a bathroom, not a library! :))

Now this definitely confirms the U270 vs IH-45 analogy... I have no idea what this is! :o  George suggests maybe it's to plug in your computer/Kindle/iPad instead the novel/magazine! :P

Thanks for confirming the "don't want to be without" sentiment.  So true!

Having had the Toto washlet seat for 8 years, I really was skeptical as to whether there was a coach-friendly option.  The washlets are made for either round or elongated residential toilet seats and it really didn't appear that it could be installed on our Sealand Traveler model.

George was able to finish the project in less than a day... and the completed installation looks quite professional, so I'm very pleased with the outcome (and I'd bet your wife would be just as pleased!).

Will let you know at the end of our 5-6 month summer travels just how well the bidet and plumbing have withstood travel and use over time.  For now, I'm pleased that there is an RV option that didn't melt down the credit card! :))
