Re: Sewer hose Reply #1 – April 15, 2013, 09:49:41 pm Quote from: Jimmyjnr – April 15, 2013, 09:40:19 pmIs there a preferred hose that fits into the sewer hose storage tube in wet bayThe biggest thing to note with a FT is that the coach bayonet connector for the sewer hose, unless it's been cut off and replaced by the previous owner (which quite a few members have done), is a Thetford. Not readily available in RV shops, which typically stock Valterra only, the OEM mating hose connector is Thetford 01665. Thetford and Valterra are not interchangeable. Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #2 – April 15, 2013, 10:02:35 pm Does the thetford hose fit into the storage tube located in the wet bay . Thanks for advice and patience Yes but you will have to cut down the ridge a bit. Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #4 – April 15, 2013, 10:21:26 pm Ok , appreciate the angled connector between hose and outlet .Which hose fits into the storage tube which has small access door in wet bay . Thanks Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #5 – April 15, 2013, 10:25:12 pm Looks like thisThetford 01665C 01665 Curved Hose Adapter : Amazon.com : AutomotiveThetford 01665 Curved Hose Adapter Trailer Camper RVYou might need to file down the "fin" that you see on the left side of the photo in the Amazon listing to get it to fit into the sewer holder. You add the hose (with a hose clamp). The other end depends on the type of sewer connection at the campground. Some want a screw-in fitting, some a rubber donut. Re: Sewer hose Reply #6 – April 15, 2013, 10:45:15 pm What is physical difference between thetford and valtera Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #7 – April 15, 2013, 11:09:11 pm Thetford has a slightly larger diameter than Valtera. Unfortunately there is no standard. My advise is to cut off the Thetford and put on a Valtera. That way if you run into a sewer hose emergency you can go to Walmart for a replacement. If you are looking for state of the art look at the polychute. http://www.polychute.com/PolychuteProductDetail.asp They come as standard equipment on the new coaches. Lots'o people like em'.Since we are talking sewer hoses you might want to read up on third valves. Third dump valve on an '02-'04 generation coach?see yaken Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #8 – April 16, 2013, 02:13:15 am Also did the 3rd valve with the smaller twist connector. Like the looks of the Polychute setup, but will need a demo on how to stuff it into the holder that Foretravel provided. The origional hose was more rigid and easy to insert into the tube that runs across in front of the drive wheels. Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #9 – April 16, 2013, 10:21:19 am I have never used the storage chute for the sewer hose. I haven't checked, but I doubt the Polychute would fit into it. I have always stored sewer hoses in containers in the main bay.I have Polychute and added third valve. I've been pleased with both additions. With other sewer hoses, I don't recall ever dumping the tanks without experienced a small leak or drip somewhere. With the Polychute and third valve, I've not experienced leaks. The combination allows back flushing the black water tank with water from the grey water tank. The sight glass on the Polychute allows observation of the effluent. The bay door will not close with the Polychute attached. I don't find that to be a problem. I normally connect the sewer hose only long enough to dump the tanks. Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #10 – April 16, 2013, 10:30:34 am My solution to storage of the sewer hose is to use a bucket with a leak proof screw on lid. I rinse the hose out, coil it into the bucket along with the donut or screw on fitting and put the lid on, even when I cannot properly rinse out the hose it still contains any stuff, odor and water in the bucket, an occasional clean out of the bucket and I am done.Gary B Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #11 – April 16, 2013, 10:50:56 am I see I have no reason to give up the original hose nor storage that Foretravel provided as it works just dandy and takes no space else where. Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #12 – April 16, 2013, 11:23:28 am This is what I did and I could not be happier. Never have to hook or unhook hoses anymore. Also can be used to back flush with the valve in the end. When the hose end valve is closed there is no hose odor either. Mark Quote Selected

Re: Sewer hose Reply #14 – April 16, 2013, 04:04:48 pm I've got one of those larger 45 degree connectors new in a plastic bag. I'm at Siesta Bay in Ft. Myers. If you want to pick it up you can have it. 207-837-7481 Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #15 – April 16, 2013, 08:22:51 pm Not to hijack this thread but I've had a H*ll of a time getting mine set up. I like the clear piece so I can see the stuff going through. I have used a reducer to get to the Vantera size then a clear 45 deg. (Will try a 90 deg to get through bay floor opening) then a red screw on then OEM hose that fits in the compartment. How do I get a third valve on my setup? Pic attached. As always your input is greatly appreciated. Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #16 – April 16, 2013, 08:38:28 pm @Scott looks like you are almost there! From the pictures it looks like a 90˚ would do it. I like these from Camco RhinoFLEX Clear Swivel Fittings - 90° Fitting - Camco RV 39857 - Sewer Fittings. Once it's on you can still rotate it to get it where you need it.As to the third valve the easiest way would be one of these. Twist-on Valve - Valterra T58 - Sewer Fittings & Adapters - Camping World Not sure if you have enough room for the it and the 90˚ at the same time.see yaken Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #17 – April 16, 2013, 08:46:47 pm Thanks Ken - I'll pick up a 90 in the next few days. I think my main challenge is a third valve install. I see the value and I would really like to have it permanently installed but do not see how that can be accomplished with my setup. Thoughts? Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #18 – April 17, 2013, 09:53:07 am @Scott I removed panels, unscrewed my black & gray valves, replace them and added a third. Grey and Black water valves I was able to find adaptors for the 3rd Valterra valve at Camping World but don't see them online. Your situation is quite a bit different than mine. The pictures are rather dark so can't tell for sure but it looks like there are a several couplers already in the line. That would make it difficult cut and adapt. You might also need to remove panels to get to your valves.Maybe someone who has made the change on a coach that's similar to yours can chime in.see yaken Quote Selected

Re: Sewer hose Reply #20 – April 17, 2013, 11:26:22 am I just lift the drain hose instead of blocking it with the valve. Dump black first, leave the valve open (black) hold the drain hose up a couple feet and open the grey valve for a few seconds close the gray and lower the hose, and do it a couple more times. Re: Sewer hose Reply #21 – April 17, 2013, 12:07:37 pm Great Suggestion - lift the hose - DUH. Quote Selected
Re: Sewer hose Reply #22 – April 17, 2013, 12:45:01 pm The third valve solves the surprise you get ifthe black valve does not get shut all the wat due to paper getting in there. Also the longer you leave it open the more water back flushes. Quote Selected
