Ant Up

Good Morning All!

I assume this means "Antenna Up" but since they're always up it's a bit confusing.

This all started when the video display claimed the fresh water tank was empty and started incessant beeping to warn me of this problem. But the video display of fresh water level has always been wrong (low). The sight tube I have outside showed the freshwater tank was half full, not empty. Adding water stopped the beeping.

Next day I hit a small low tree branch (this has happened many times before with no problem) and "Ant Up" lit up on the dash and started incessant beeping. Adding water did not help this time.

I suspected a connection rattled loose (like our HWH connection does from time to time) but I could not see anything under the dash that looked likely. Or find the beeper to kill it...

I can report the beeper is industrial strength. 150 miles of beeping with no lowering of beep intensity proved that.

Any ideas of what is going on? And how to fix it?

best, paul

My '99 had a mercury switch on the antenna that went bad. Replaced with magnetic switch and the beeping stopped. Could be you damaged it?

Tape over the beeper may give prompt, temporary relief. I use tape to adjust the volume of our "geezer alarm" to a comfortable level. Unfortunately, I can't supply any useful information to solve the "real" problems.

Where IS the beeper?

The pictures in the reference thread show how the buzzer is likely to look. Ours hangs by the connection wires. Others are likely mounted securely. Many have an adjustment for the volume. I could not find an adjuster on ours, so I put a piece of tape over the hole and adjust it for volume.

Look behind the instrument panel near the street side.

Thanks. But I have what looks like a pot, with a slotted nut, too. But the nut doesn't seem to want to be adjustable.

Well, there's something like what I'm looking for to the left of the system brake but no adjustment in sight and tape over a hole makes no difference in the volume.

Thank you!

I did find it. It's well hidden below wiring to the RIGHT of the system brake control. A bit of tape helps a lot.

The switch on the antenna for the beeper was probably damaged or the wires were forced together, you will have to get up on top to repair

Paul,
On my '96 there is a magnet (the window security kind) screwed onto the driverside arm of the OTA TV antenna. If it got damaged or if there is a stick stuck under the antenna or some other reason that the arm is not resting on the roof the circuit will be open and the alarm will sound.

Paul, I always look for anything that has or could have changed the coach when a problem occurs. The first suspect would be the run in with the branch second would be the addition of the solar panels. The chances are very good that the problem lies on the roof as Elliot said. It should be easily fixed once you find a ballet dancer who can get on your roof and dance around the solar panels.

"...once you find a ballet dancer who can get on your roof and dance around..." So true! Too bad Foretravel can't figure out a way to make the roof come down to earth when we need to work on it instead of making us climb halfway to heaven. My knees don't like that climb and I don't bounce like I used to. Come to think of it, maybe I'd bounce MORE now. Jo Ann's investment certainly has shown great increase in certain areas.

They got you all the way with their motorhome, so it really is a half step down

Hmmmmm.... Thanks!

My OTA was removed recently to make room for solar panels.

If that is the problem I wonder why it took the system to wake up and notice the OTA was gone?

Those beepers are kinda finicky. Did it work before? I'm betting on that being the problem. Probably just need to have a wire disconnected.

It worked every time I signaled a lane change.

I dunno.... I still lean towards adding more water...

Hey. James Triana, I believe it was, told me a long time ago that The "beeper" is called an "enunciator"!
Now you'll know. Not only that, he told me how to turn it off.

Well, the antenna on the passenger side is not the problem

It looks like the OTA is the problem

There's a magnet? sensor? on the roof next to where the OTA arm would be when it was lying down. It has two small wires coming from it.

The OTA arm is at AM Solar, and we are in Fremont, CA.

So would cutting the two small wires make things worse? Or better?
