Picked up our "new" coach

Took delivery of a 2005 U320 that is replacing our 1996 model.  Had a few minor problems but they repaired them and we are on our way west on I20.

Made it to Hutchins Tx and lost a tow pin on the towbar.  Saw the jeep move to one side and I was able to stop safely.  Now we get to wait till morning for parts.  I will put safety cables on the pins so they stay with the bar.

been there, done that. Element wanted to pass the U-270 once when I lost a pin......only damage was to the hitch

My pins won't/can't come out if you flip the bail one way, but will if you close them the other direction. Â So I check and double check when I connect. Â So far so good

tractor supply has everything if one nearby, loses and HD have enough to get you going

We lost a pin towing our Honda, and saw the Honda in the passenger side mirror and then in the driver side mirror. Took us a while to find a place to stop.

We no longer reply on the standard hardware only. We tie each pin in place with 1/4 inch cord and old fashioned square knots.

Every pin associated with my tow bar is secured by a padlock.  I feel relatively secure (knock on wood).  Plus I have two safety cables.  I know each passing CHP officer is looking for safety cables.

:o :-[  I have been so embarrassed since this happened to me less than a month ago, now I feel like I just attended a "support group". Tow Pins Anonymous.  Or Pin Heads (pun intended)

I thought I had lost power when the toads' brakes were applied. Without a rear view camera on my class C, I never thought it was related to the tow bar. Very scary feeling.

Sitting at Tractor Supply waiting for them to open. I will be buying more than one. I am just concerned why it came out. I am guessing the retaining clip was damaged in some way.

While you are there, buy a new locking pin for your receiver hitch.  When we upgraded our tow bar we used the old locking pin ... an easy-to-find item for maybe $15??  about 3 weeks later, the locking part popped off (or the broke) and the tow bar pulled out of the receiver going up a hill.  Coming DOWN the hill, it was sliding along the pavement, making a noise I just happened to hear because my little side window was open!  Jeff saw the Jeep in his rear view mirror and we came to a gentle stop (THANK YOU AIRFORCE 1!!) No damage to coach or car ... tow bar a total wreck ... all because we didn't replace the cheap item!

Don't know what tow bar you have, but Foretravel advised us a week ago that they no longer sell Blue Ox tow bars OR parts--- they have had two cases of broken (failed) pins that apparently fell out after breaking. Just an FYI, I was looking for parts on the one that came with my "new" 96 U320.

Here is  Blue Ox  factory ---1 888 425 5382 ---- , here is an outlet number----1 866 332 7881----  don't know much about Blue Ox , only pulled with them for 300,000 plus miles , and only pull 9700 pounds , so they probably aren't any good .                            Brad Metzger
