The passing of a friend. RIP George Stoltz

In Memory of George Stoltz

January 6, 1939 - October 20, 2014

Friends,

This afternoon we learned of George's passing after his fight with cancer. George was a long time member of Foretravel forum family and we are very saddened to learn of his passing. He was a kind soul and gentleman and will be missed by all that knew him

We do not know of any memorial service details at this time, but pass our heart felt prayers on to Sandy and his family.

Almost got to meet George in Maine once and he also lived right down the road from me. Wish I could have had the chance to meet him. When I talked on the phone with him he seemed to be a very kind person. I did get to meet his old coach (Moose) in Jax once. He did a fine job of taking care of his coach. George is in a much better place where there is no more cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with George's family.

That is very sad news.  We never met George, but read many of his posts which

George was a dandy fellow.  He was a generous and thoughtful guy and an often hilarious companion when sharing lunch at Whattaburger.  We were lucky to spend time with George and Sandy at Camp Foretravel on occasion.  We were sad when they made the decision to get off the road, as it meant those encounters were a thing of the past.  I know his family will have a huge hole to fill with his passing.  Godspeed, George.

George was an icon for this forum. I was shocked when they sold Moose and this evening I was shocked and saddened more by his passing. RIP George. We won't forget you and neither will anyone doing a search on this forum. You left a legacy.

George helped so many of us with his knowledge and posts. I always looked first for his posts.

I caulked my harvest table using George's advice about taping first, then caulking. I had never done such a good job before!! After that, every time we showed our coach I had to give credit where credit was due--to George--for the great looking caulk job.

I am willing to bet there are a lot more stories out there about George's contributions and help.

Missed him when he threw out the anchor, and darn near broke out in tears reading the notice tonight.

I find this news particularly difficult,  as I lost my wife to cancer a week ago.  I remember when George was a newbie and wannabe on the forum,  helped push him over the edge to becoming a FT owner,  followed his difficult transition from brick and mortar home to full timing,  and watched his meteoric rise to near top number of posts.  George was a kindred spirit,  we had a number of email chats,  and I didn't understand until now why he suddenly sold the Moose.  George,  we all miss you.

George and i were talking and he sent me an email when he stopped the treatments.  He could no longer talk on the phone but he fought a good battle and he loved his FT.  Rest in Peace George, you will be missed.

Although I don't post much, I do read the forum at least once a day. George has been one of those ever-present personalities that had great advice and, like so many others on this forum, just felt like an old friend even to people who had never met him. We are so sad to lose this wonderful person. Our prayers for his family and to all those others who have lost a fine friend.

It's always very sad to learn of a fellow friend's death.  It brings everything into perspective.  We all loved him whether we had met him in person or not for his candid views on just about everything. May Sandy keep only the good memories...forever.

We met George and Sandy in Maine when they first put Moose up for sale. It was the first Foretravel we had seen and George was so courteous and helpful answering all our newbie questions.

So sorry to hear of his passing. Rest in peace George.
