Replica HWH Plungers Redux

I just got a email from Tom over at Newell Gurus.  He said he has just completed another group sale of HWH kits for his members, and has ended up with a few kits left over.  Not many - he said he has "...about 15 kits at the moment."  Since I had such good luck with the HWH project on our Forum, and vouched without reservation for the honesty of our membership, he is offering us the remaining kits.  They will be the same price as last time - $100.00 plus shipping.  They will contain exactly the same items as before.

If you are new to this Forum, or did not hear about the last Great HWH Kit Sale in time to act, here is a link to the thread.  It should answer all of your questions:

Brand New Replica HWH Plungers

All dealing and correspondence this time will be directly with Tom McCloud.  He will provide all the details about payment, timing, shipping, etc.  If you desire to purchase any of these remaining kits, you should contact him without delay, as the supply is extremely limited.  His email address:

tom@newellgurus.com

Moderators:  I did not know if this post should go in the Classified section.  Feel free to move it if you desire.

Thanks Chuck.  It is very timely.  I ordered a set to rebuild my slide out room manifold.  I'll let everyone know how it goes.  If it works, (there are two solenoids for each slide bladder), I'll have a few left over I can pass on to someone else if they need to do the same thing.

2 six-packs in a standard 2-axle coach.  If you have a tag axle, there is another HWH manifold, with ____ additional solenoid valves.  I don't know how many...somebody with a tag could tell us.

And I think that each slide bladder has a 2-pack.  I'll let you know more in about a week after I get my plungers and try to rebuild my 2-pack.

Tom reports as of today (Aug 1st) he has 5 kits left.  I think he has just about exhausted the market on his forum, so there may not be another opportunity to procure these kits anytime soon.  Just saying...snooze you lose.

We purchased two 6-pack rebuilding kits from Tom.  The special tool and spare parts make the rebuilding something we can do ourselves.

Last post on this thread, I promise.  Tom just notified me that he sold the last kit from his current inventory to one of our members.  So, the order window is closed.  He also said that IF he has enough demand, from his forum or ours (or both), then he may do another group purchase sometime in the future.  No set date.  If you think you might ever have a need for one or more of these kits, then it would be prudent to let Tom know.  Just drop him a email and express your interest.  This is not eBay - you will have no contractual obligation to actually buy the kits you "reserve".  It's just that Tom has to have a general idea of how much demand is there, before he can go to the supplier with his order for the parts.

As I posted on another thread Chuck, Tom told me that could be happening sooner than later if he gets more calls to add to mine and a few others. I should have ordered at least 2 sets from you as I will be having Friends CCoach here in Sept to do his as he has problems it seems.

After reading John's post several weeks ago I contacted Tom to go on the waiting list.  Received an email from Tom today that he got some more kits in this week and he is able fill my request for two kits.  Anyone interested might want to contact him regarding availability.

That HWH number is for a single solenoid valve, not a six-pack plunger/spring/o-ring rebuild kit.  See Chuck's first post in his original topic Brand New Replica HWH Plungers  HWH will not sell just the plunger part.

You would need 6 RAP1940's for each manifold.

Thanks Michelle -

(I have been in touch with Randy @ HWH as our nose is raising slightly which indicates that at least one of the front solenoids is "bleeding".  We will order 2 solenoids from HWH and replace the front ones.  We have also contacted Tom @ newellguru and he is getting together another order and will get 2 sets for us for future delivery.  Certainly $100 for the rebuild kit is mucho better than $109 per solenoid.)

Any one have an extra solenoid wrench out there that they could send us so we can use until our kits get here?  ;D

Scott, you can actually use vice grips to get them apart (I know this sounds crazy) as when Barry "Beam" was here and we did his 6 packs they would not come apart with wrench provided so he used V Grips and they did come apart. There was no damage on the part and it all worked fine after. I was skeptical as I thought it may crush the wall but it did not and piston has lots of room to move inside. There just was no way we could get some apart using the tool- even soaking with release stuff. Since leaving here they have traveled thousands of miles and they are working well. Other things have not though, blew a Tag tire and a roof AC replaced.

Emailed Tom this morning to get in line for 2 sets.  He already emailed back that 2 are available.  Sold.  I haven't had any problems with my leveling system and don't have slides so this is a backup plan to avoid much higher cost of an emergency repair, or maybe a preventive maintenance rebuild if I run out of other things to do.  Thanks to Forum, especially Chuck, for making this possible.

I have just got off the Phone from Barry (Beam) as he called  to touch base & with some very important info on this subject.
He has been having an issue with his Tag and figured it had to be the 6 pack that we rebuilt while he was here. He had spoken to HWH about this and they informed him that all the solenoids and parts are the same. He then called FT and spoke to a tech who also said they are the same. Then still not convinced he called J Trianna and was told he thought they are the same but would find out. Well after talking to him later it seems that the 2 Tag ones are NOT the same as they have a slightly larger diameter hole in the port. Barry decided to get under the coach and he took one of the Tag solenoids off and it was the right one in the right place but the other one alongside was not the larger hole. Luckily the next one up was the one that should have been in the bottom row so he switched it with the other and now all is working as should. So beware if you are doing it should you have a TAG and do not mix those 2 solenoids up with the other 4. To be safe just do 1 at a time and replace it before going to next one.
