TV reception .

Have a problem with reception on my  Direct TV  via satellite dome on roof . It shows locked on  101 which is correct . It also shows that there is no connection  between dish and receiver . This functioned properly from Virginia to El Paso  and that was it .  I have checked all connections that I can locate and found nothing loose .  Anyone have ideas on what to do ??  Am reluctant to take it to Camping World as I have not ever had a positive dealing with them . Brad, I have had the same or similar problem, but being a dumbas I checked it the easiest way I knew and understand. First I checked everything was tight, plugged in, power on, no bent wire ends in the coax. Then, if nada, I took the coax I use for my walkout antenna and substituted for the built-in coax. I just unscrewed the existing coax from up on the roof and at the receiver, then put my coax in place.
Not the coax? Then something else and I sure am no expert there.

Brad,
Are you in an RV park?  Often times there is a satellite guy in the park on a service call that will help.

P.S. There's nothing to watch on TV anymore except ads.

Reset the Directv receiver or, and go on lint to Directv and have receiver refreshed.
Asuming nothing is blocking reception.

That's why we carry a DVD player, and 13 seasons of NCIS (the ORIGINAL, of course) on DVD.  By the time we have finished Season 13, we've completely forgotten what happened in Season 1, so then we go back and start over.  EASY!  ^.^d

Uh uh, there is "Highway Thru Hell" and "Ice Road Truckers". For us desert rats, that is entertaining!  ^.^d  I got so sick of dinking around with my roof-mount old timer, that I bought a DISH "Tailgator". Works perfect!

What kind of dish do you have?  In motion or stationary( Yes there are some stationary that are in domes)?    What is the model of receiver you have?  How do you know it is locked on 101?

If you have a swm, does it have power?

As suggested if you have not done so, power everything down, then power back up.

Brad, I had that problem several times and Tom E has the answer, I think. Call up DirectV and have them reset or refresh your receiver.

Ok  , yes I have done all the reset efforts as per Direct TV techs .  What I have is  (  track star ? ) not the other one anyway . It has  a little box with a telephone type wire plugged into it up front above driver chair . It has a window and when unit is turned on , I can hear the dish turning and seeking the satellite . The window shows locked 101 , the dish has stopped turning , the TV screen shows HDMI 1 the receiver is lit up showing power  but no picture .  message on TV ,  771 signal loss  , next it shows connection between receiver and the wall out starting with sat-in connection .    I have checked everything I can get my hands on , fined nothing loose  , drew a blank .  Now what to do ???        Brad Metzger

Brad I really don't know what your problem is exactly, but there is a gentleman that bought TrackStar system and has an upgrade software. I got his emaril from TrackStar, but my system was too old for the software to work.
I looked for his address but could not find it,sorry.
I really got frustrated with the Track star and went out and purchased a Wineguard system..

Before you get to the Q- FT gathering, stock up on beer, wine, whiskey, chips & dips. I would be surprised if there was not someone who could help!  ^.^d

Brad,

There was some discussion on here and IRV2 that DirecTV changed the satellite setup making it incompatible with older systems. I don't recall the specifics. But when I read it, it made me think my system would be affected at some point. You might have to ask the DirecTV tech if there could be such an issue.

I have the exact system you have but have not used it in a year or so. I just use over the air TV and DVDs now. If I ever go back to using satellite TV, I am going to go with the Dish tailgater.

Have been on the phone with James T. at Foretravel .  He walked me  thru all the normal stuff to do . No change . So , he gets his resource's going, comes up with a phone number and name of a guy on the road that does this type of work . he should be here any minute . I have gathered some information that I will share when the smoke clears .    Brad Metzger

Brad,

Get the tech up on the roof and tell him Barney hates being without

his tv shows and might not let him down until the tv works. Get Barney

to show his teeth, not sure he knows that trick, yet.

Hope you get it fixed today,

Carter-

Yes that too ,  but the main thing is  Phyllis is climbing the walls . I can do ok with out the TV , but not so with DW . Me and Barney can do the Maverick thing for lots of hours but-----got to come home sooner or later and that is when my ears begin to ring . So getting that blasted TV up and running is big time important for my well being . Seeeee      Brad Metzger

The dish expert showed up , found that the small " brain " box has died . He will try to get one and return Tuesday . If none available will install the new"  Wine O " ?  deal which is what Foretravel and Newell install on new coaches .  We shall see how this pans out . I phoned Braxton at Foretravel and he said they have done close to 500 swap outs and the labor is usually 6 to 7 and a half hours . This guy here says it will be 2 hours and a max of 4 hours to complete the job . Hmm oh well I will post the results .  Brad Metzger
