If it runs as good as it looks someone will enjoy this new listing I just saw on MOT's website. If we could only shrink it to 36'.

Had a 36 FT. Moved to 40' FT. Don't overthink the 4'. Had not kept me out of any CG in last 8 years I have owned it that a 36' would have gotten into.

In my searching the web for Grand Villas I stumbled on this:

Used RV For Sale in Bridgeport, West Virginia: 1994 Foretravel Grand Villa -...

Trashed, scam, or golden opportunity for an enterprising individual?

I have promised the DW no project vehicles, so this one is out for me, but all the same.......

If it had a Ford V-10 in it, I'd be thinking about it (besides having 20CBs stashed to restore the rest).

Could be a very nice coach with a little TLC. That is if the engine runs OK. It's a U300 with the 6V-92TA or it looks like it from the 5 inch exhaust. NOT gas like the ad says. Has the recessed ICC lights and will have the carpet headliner. If the engine runs, I would be on the next flight! Think this is a 36 foot model. Rare and very desirable.

Restoration on the outside could probably be done with some dishwasher soap and ajax mix with a sponge. No $20K. No big deal inside unless it had leaks.

I don't recall Tim & I saying, "you will spend 20k". It is a 50/50 chance on these old dears, that CBs will be spent after the sale. We paid some serious CBs on this coach, but the paperwork showed just about everything had been replaced, once or twice. You start adding up costs: "two new roof airs, two new furnaces, new cook stove, new fridge", and on and on once you get to know the coach, there could be some big (to me) bucks spent. i don't mean to be negative, I simply love our coach, but know the realities of "a good deal".  ^.^d

I would think that the price $6,500 is cheap, but then again it could be loaded with surprises resident critters comes to mind. That being said I think it has a diesel as the hubs are 10 bolt not those lightweight 6 bolt, there are probably other signs that I don't know.
East coast rides are usually a No No out west because of the rock salt and humidity levels so underneath would be a good place to start ? ^.^d

I would like to see the floorplan.  If it is a wtbi it becomes even more desirable with an extra six inch width.  Much roomier bathroom and the pocket doors are great.  The overall feel of a roomier coach is achieved with this design.  The living room can be enlarged with the removal of the barrel chair and using a smaller rocker recliner.  Cindy insisted on the bigger bathroom and I had to comply!

I was thinking that besides myself, Jerry Maddux was the only other U300 102" 36 foot owner about. If you go to the site 1994 Foretravel Grand Villa Unihome, PHOTOS, Details, Brochure, Floorplan and supersize the photo, you can see the big chrome exhaust pipe right below the rear dock light. The U300 Detroit is the only one with that. The number of compartment doors indicate 36 feet and the recessed ICC lights mean 1994 or 1995. Foretravel didn't make a gas engine in these years. Note the two receiver covers below the bumper. Also looks as if it had a front bug protector on it with the vertical row of snaps. Can't be a 1995 as it does not have the one piece front access cover.

Yes, an east coast coach could have corrosion issues but I don't see anything wrong with the body from this side. The decals even look good or at least better than ours were when we bought it.

At that price, you could drive it across the states, have a great vacation and then use it as an apartment. :D

Jerry,

Just read your post. I was thinking of modifying the entrance wall/rail on the left on the way into the coach and making it so the top part would fold down. Then installing a booth with a table that would drop to make a bed to watch our big screen on the back wall.

Another idea is to put a big screen in the area taken up by the front table and liquor cabinet. There is a Foretravel in England that has one of the electric fireplaces with a big screen that is motorized to come up to viewing height. Good viewing a 4K TV from the sofa then.

I like your little stove! I spend hours asleep in the OEM recliner though. Good for watching TV on the back wall but no close spot for the second person.

I bet this is a sweetheart price to lure you into calling a sleazebag loan place. That said t would be great to get a unihome basket case for this price and nurse it back to health if you had the skills to do it yourself.

If the carpets, seats were shot, $2000 will get seats like ours, sofa and recliner recovered and new carpets plus the interior wood oiled in Puerto PeƱasco. Another $2500 will replace a bad fridge plus two new roof ACs. New tires from $2K to $3.5K. Thats worst case if everything were to be bad or to get rid of the red interior carpet if so fitted.  :)

If the engine were "dusted," it could be really expensive to get rebuilt. But,"nothing ventured, nothing gained."

Is that what you say before or after the DW leaves with the kids, and the dog bites you on the ankles?  :))

The first DW left after the boat trip. Kids gone now and the dogs know I have the food in a locked pail. Gaylie has tolerated me for 20 years now but I have come close, real close.

Same with me. I don't know where I got it, but the "what's over the hill" disease got me early and there was no cure. As she left me, the words, "That's our problem, you want to migrate, I want to hibernate" came up. It was too weird to say, "nice poetry, dear."

The ad has more print describing loans then coach features. If you need a loan to buy a $6500 coach you can't afford to maintain it. My mind screams SCAM.
