It's in Bridgeport, WV. I sent an email but have not heard back. Read the complaints and responses for him. Not surprised at the price as West Virginia is in terrible shape.

Vanagon is a great toad, especially with the Jetta engine conversion.

I think it would take some getting used to after driving my 29' around.

They do, we came from a 31" and I'm still getting used to it. Parking lots and sharp corners are dicey until you get used to it.  ^.^d

John Hiebel sent me two emails. Too long to copy/paste here. He is very wordy. Said the Foretravel is a private sale and he takes no commission. Really pushes the financing. Sent a list of quite a few RVs. No other Foretravels. If the owner contacts me, I will post the info as I am not interested in the coach. Now, if it were in Sacramento...

May not be mistreated at all, just dirty on the outside. From the condition of the graphics, she may have spent most of her time indoors.

Exactly. May just need washing. Any coach that has been sitting will need all batteries replaced but you can see the price Jimmy just paid for his 31 series. Doubt very much if Hiebel ever even looked at it. What kind of a business would list it as a gas RV? On the other hand, one seller sent me photos of their "perfect" U300. They lived in it and the bathroom photo had all the dirty clothing, cleaning supplies plus the sofa had a huge hole their dog had eaten in it. They said it was "easily repairable."

What is bothering me, on these recent coaches for sale, is how low they sit, maybe that's why one of my POs took the fold-down steps off ? With this coach, with no jacks extended, on level ground, I measure 7" from the top of the tire to the bulkhead. She sits pretty, and I would be measuring that when looking at a GV.  ^.^d

Ours sits quite low after a few days. For best air bag life, it would be good to block the suspension up so the bottom of the air bag does not fold and crack. This is where the majority of failures occur.

It would be VERY unusual for one to be that neglected cosmetically and yet properly maintained mechanically. Again, VERY rare.

OK, Brett, how do you see the "neglect" in the exterior of the photo other than sitting out and getting dirty? Now, if it had peeling decals and other areas of neglect, that could be very true. From the snaps on the front cap that would indicate a bug "bra" and very well could reflect pride of ownership, I just don't see any other problems in the photo. I have spoken to several former Foretravel owners who had sudden health or financial issues and had to park their coach for good. Sometimes they were able to store them inside but most parked them outside. With just the dirt on this coach but good decals, I expect it has not been outside for that long. Like I said before, our coach looked much, much worse than this one but other than a couple of airbags, it now has 100,000 of absolutely trouble free miles.

Reading between the lines could mean a surviving spouse advertising it not knowing the difference between a gas and diesel coach. Plus, any owner with savvy would advertise on Craigslist or other RV publications, not with a sketchy business. Seems strange to say the least.

My take,

If it starts, runs and drives with a clear current title I would buy it instantly.

Everything else is fixable.  Decent tires, non cracked airbags at full lift would be pluses.

ALL the info is here to fix this.

Hard to spend $20k which is somewhat its value in average fixed condition IMO

For someone that wants to upgrade and not have the complexity of a slide it would be a great coach. But it really hurts resale. With everything stock there're lots of good upgrades needed.

Dave, on the other side of the coin I will break my normal non caring habit and express my experience with our similar coach.

A lot here may not agree but that's ok.

I would not enjoy the coach as much with the galley on the curb side and the dinette on the street side.

The dinette under the awning facing our campsite was the std floorplan across the industry until the early slides were built.

Took many years for Foretravel to finally flip the floorplan back to this setup with a slide and a cooktop.

See the floorplans beamalarms has on his website.

I understand the resale difference but for me I would prefer the non slide to get the floorplan more to our liking.

If you say it hurts the resale we will see.  Maybe someone can pay even less if it does not sell.

Bet it sells fairly quickly

Not so sure this is a 2000.  Mine is a 1999 and I have the same decal design.  I wouldn't think that Foretravel would use the same decal design 2 years in a row or would they?

The VIN # shows a Y as the 10th digit and Y represents 2000. The following year 2001 started off again with 1. So it is a 2k model.
