Toyo M170 for 2000 U270

Looking at replacing the tires on my 2000 U270 and I have gotten a pretty good price on the Toyo M170 tires and I'm curious who all is running on these and how you like them. Thanks in advance

Look at the pressure charts for your nose weight.  IMHO if you are under 10000# use the G and run at 95 PSI.  The H tires will run less pressure, weigh more, ride harder, and cost you fuel.

Thanks I guess I should mention that they will be just going on rear axle as steer tires are only 1.5 years old and they are Firestone...unless Firestone's are the devil I would leave them on.

You will need to tell us where you are for specific recommendations.

But, many truck stops have/can direct you to scales that can do axle weights.  Yes, individual wheel weights are better, but axle weights will get you close.

Flying J, county dump, gravel sales. etc.
Take a couple of old tires to the dump along with a non cash offering , explain that you would like two weights etc.

A new Toyo tire seems to steer as well as the older Michelin's.

You said this was a rear axle use.  Not nearly as important.

Went from Xza-2's to Xzavier-3+'s and the upgrade in rolling resistance was very noticeable.

Coach coasts now.  Have to use the brakes/ retreader more.

No insult just an observation that when a owner changes from an older Michelin to a newer anything tire and says it feels and drives the same is good.

Versus a new design Michelin drives better than the older designed tires

Actually, virtually ANY brand new tire will ride/drive better than a 7-8 year old "any tire".

I put Toyo m177 G rated on all 6 tires and centramatics all the way around. Rides smooth as glass, quiet and tracks excellent. Had Bridgestones before. Wore well, but quite a lot rougher ride.

H rated on most tires is 6710 pounds at 120/130 pounds.

Michelin's g's are 6710.  Michelin "H's" are 7160 at 120.

I think the Toyos are 6610 for "h"s?

I switched tires to allow the 10 pound less pressure for la freeways

Just got done with a 4500 mile trip on our new Toyo M137's H load rated on all positions. Why M137's? I wanted a solid rib for dry traction and less road noise along with a little less tread depth (15/32 Vs 19/32) and thus less tread squirm. Most of us will never even use a third (and likely even less) of the available tread depth over the life of our tires. Nor drive much in the rain or snow or mud. So deep cross sipes are quite un-neccesary.

After reading lots of posts about this, and after a LONG discussion with Greg at Herman Power, we went from Michelin to Toyo M177 for our trip into Mexico. I never was crazy about the very narrow first groove the tire has. It picked up gravel way too easy. Anyway, no conplaints on ride or handling....BUT....I lost a chunk of out brand new tire on a rough Mexican road. We'll see how I am treated when in Nac early May
