Update on the Midland Grau ABS sensor

Does anyone have information on where to find replacement sensors for the ABS system on the older coaches?
I need to replace a Midland Grau straight sensor # 364 208 001

IIRC depending on which one it is, it might be "unobtainium"

Look on E bay and match it up . They all do about the same thing.  Figure if a hall effect or VR sensor.  Hall has 2 wires most of the time. VR should have 3 .  You should be able to find one withe same diameter.

I seem to recall (from a post of Jim McNeece's) the issue is not one of diameter but of sensor length.

       I removed the system from our coach ( ABS) last year because it was causing REAL issues with the Allison.  Seems if you cook the brakes which in turn would most likely cook the sensors also,, that event tells the Allison to not lock up in 4th and not even shift into 5th or 6th.  Yes it was a real mystery for a week or so.      James at FT said , if you suspect it's the abs just unplug it. I did and problem solved. 
 
  I'm thinking it's ( abs ) is only valuable if sliding to a stop or spinning in the snow and I doubt I'll be doing either one of those so it's gone.      And besides, the only part that still available is the sensor. If something malfunctions with the brain your done.  Took out the brain to make room for the 8 new lithium batteries.


  Bottom line FOT had the sensors when we had brake work done there 2 years back......

Update to my original post.

It appears that I have found a source for the Midland Grau straight sensors used on our coach. I installed the new one today and so far it appears to be working! It was a short test drive but the ABS warning light that has been illuminated for the past year or is illuminated no more.  ;D

The replacement sensor is in stock at The Jack Olsta Company Huntsville Tx.  olstaco.com
It's a Haldex #364528001 
it replaces the OEM part from Midland Grau 364208001

If you pull the connector apart that connects the .5 meter cable on the sensor to the cable running to the controller, BE CAREFUL, they can be brittle, 25 years takes its toll on plastic. Mine broke apart, but I was still able to connect it back to the new sensor cable and then using a generous amount of Scotch 33, seal it from the elements and tywrap it to the brake air line.

Nope, haven't been out of Florida since July.................. getting ready for a quick trip to the Asheville area for the holidays tho'  :)
