ISM drain plug

I am looking for a drain plug for a 2003 Cummins ISM that has the valve for draining so I don't have to remove the drain plug. Does anyone have the part number? Thanks for any help.

I couldn't find anything on here, but Chat GPT says:

For a 2003 Cummins ISM engine, you can typically use a Fumoto F-108N valve or a similar EZ Oil Drain Valve with an M22-1.5 thread size, which should fit most ISM models. This type of valve allows you to drain oil without fully removing the plug, making maintenance much simpler.

To be certain, you may want to confirm the thread size of your specific oil pan, as some variations exist.

I have the Fumoto and would give it to you if you were close by.  I ran it for a year or so but it always leaked a little oil.  Not from the valve but from the threads.  I could never understand why I couldn't get it to seal tight.  I tried it with the gasket it came with, the gasket from the original drain plug and no gasket.  It always leaked for me.  Eventually I got spooked by how low it hangs down and I decided to switch back to the original plug.  No problem since.  I know I will take hits from everyone who thinks I will strip out my oil pan but I'm confident I can avoid that and I'm in the habit of not overtightening pan plugs (or oil filters).  The Fumoto valve seemed very good quality and I never had a problem with the valve itself.  That being said, when I change the oil I have two 5 gallon buckets handy and I swap them on the fly while the oil drains.  Never a problem.

Great question Ron. . . Only recommend The Best Quick Oil Drain Plugs - No-Spill Systems brand, and only their Compact model. Buy spare drain hose. ISM with their aluminum drain pan with OEM steel drain plug is an invitation for disaster, when the day the aluminum threads come out with the drain plug. Do installing the above system may save you if the aluminum threads are not already stressed. Other model drain plug systems may stick down too much potentially being a new weak spot if something hits them and breaks off. BTW, Nospillsystems is also recommended for other engine models, even those with a steel drain pan.

One of our forum members gave me a No Spill when we bought the coach.  First oil change, the threads came out with the OEM plug.  I installed the replacement thread thing to restore the threads, and then the No Spill.  The new thread insert was not difficult, but was probably the scariest RV job I have done.  Now the No Spill does the work, and the threads can remain pristine!

We are also fans of the No Spill system.  There was a service note in our new coach that the original drain pan threads were stripped and a "drill out and replace with larger threads" was done.  Good reminder that we need to look at that and see what the threads are so we can order the correct No Spill drain insert.

Oil pan plug
Just for reference. 20/20 hindsight I would go with the near flush. This has worked for me. The oil pans are magnesium. They work good till they don't.

Michelle, I had to do one a couple of years ago and it took the same drain plug as the original plug.

Red T,
I'll look for it tomorrow but I think Mike has the right number.
I remember going to their website and clicking on my engine (m11) and then ordering it.

Thanks for the lead. I was about to do this change also.
The No Spill System looks like a good system.  While searching for this type of drain plug I came across several others.  What caught my attention was the one from Femco.  Apparently, No Spill was a distributor until 2013 then split off and started making their copy of the Femco drains.  So it looks like they are nearly identical and probably are.  After pricing these out the Femco (plug, drain hose and shipping) is almost $30 less then the No Spill brand.  Femco Compact LB 7050020417 1"-18-UNS-T12.  All Femco products are made in the Netherlands while No Spill is in the US.  Either way it's not Chinese.

Andy, We like Femco and are surprised they are also available, and you say less expensive. Your NoSpill story is how we remember, but thought for a while Femco was not available here. Thanks for the info.
