Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #275 – March 13, 2012, 11:07:08 pm well we arrived home with the new Whirlpool fridge safely still fastened to the dining table and every day I had to unhook it so we could get food out of it. Worked great powered by the smaller inverter I installed a year ago and overnight use was around 8 per cent of total battery power. So after we get organized here from trip I have to rip out Dometic and install this new one and make a cabinet to fit the rest of old opening. I am going to remove lv room carpet and put wood floor in and also change over the ceiling flourescant lights with LED that I got today from Pierce to complete the install. First I have to build some Raspberry frames for Ruth in the garden or life will not be nice!!John Quote Selected
Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #276 – March 27, 2012, 03:32:27 pm I installed some carpet on our entry stairs. Got the carpet (by the foot) from Lowes. It is available in brown and black. It is thin, but stiff and lays flat on the stairs. I had planned to use Velcro to hold it in place, but the double stick variety would not adhere to the back of the carpet. So glued some non-slip padding to the back of the carpet with contact cement, then used Velcro on the back corners for additional stability. Got the carpet idea from Karl Brenneman. See photos below. Time will tell if it holds up, but it certainly looks better than when I started this little project. Quote Selected
Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #277 – March 27, 2012, 04:58:00 pm Kelly found that one of the bedside drawers would not open fully. The slides were clogged with dirt. Lots of lubricant and working it back and forth loosened it, so we could remove the drawer. Inside was a thick coat of dust - and apparently a small joint in the cabinetry that was never caulked. Cleaned caulked, and hopefully problem gone.Spent some time on the non FT.oldMattB Quote Selected

Checked oil levels at the front axle hub oilers.2. Took home all the plastic & glass components, shelves, door trays from the Norcold, washed, dried, then took back to the coach at storage facility.3. Cleaned & detailed all the inside surfaces of the Norcold. Put it all back together...looks like new.4. Riveted together three of the fridge fans I bought from ebay, and installed in Norcold. Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #280 – March 27, 2012, 07:58:53 pm took apart all the inside of clothes cupboards to look for a nagging rattle when we hit bumps etc. Could not find it and decided to remove floor of cabinet where the rear heater is. Hopefully I found it as the metal top cover was very loose and makes the same kind of noise so put new screws (extra) in it and now we will have to wait and see. I have never really been fond of the massive overhang of counter on the passenger side cabinet with the very narrow closet under so took the top off and cut 9" off it on the saw. Siliconed it back and now it looks right and opens up the seat area a bit more. I had removed that table lamp 2 yrs ago as did not see the point of it with the overhed puck lights that are on a dimmer and now LED.John Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #282 – March 27, 2012, 11:03:54 pm yes mine do because when I had the old lights in I installed a dimmer switch in place of the toggle ones that were original to soften the other lights and cut down on power usage from batteries. They worked great but I still decided to change to LEDs so wondered if they would dim the LEDs once installed. They do, but not to the same extent as before. It is sort of 70% light at turn on then 100% full on turn. All my puck lights are controlled by dimmers.John H Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #285 – April 03, 2012, 10:30:05 pm Replaced the original Heart inverter/charger today with a new 2500 watt Xantrex Freedom 458.All wires on the old unit hooked up in the rear of the unit, where the new Xantrex all wires connections go the front of the unit. There was adequate amount of length to all wires to hook it up with out any trouble. The size was almost the same as the Heart unit, so I was able to install it in the same shelf bracket as the old one. The old unit quit charging and a repair shop said that there were not any parts available for the old "black box" type, and that is what mine was. My batteries are happy now. Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #287 – April 05, 2012, 09:58:25 am Finally got the right connector to wire my original '03 Foretravel installed NMO ROOF cell antenna (replaced with a Wilson Dual Band - 800 -1900 MHz NMO Trucker Antenna) to a new INDOOR Wilson Dual Band - 800-1900 MHz Slim Low Profile Antenna. You need a TNC female to FME male adapter. I finally found it at:Pan Pacific RFA-8452 TNC female to FME male adapter from Wholesale ElectronicsThis combination is not available from Wilson Electronics because they said they haven't used a TNC connector on antenna in many years. Seems to improve signal but may add amp in future..... Bill Quote Selected

I ran into the engine battery door while it was open as I was walking and looking down. This happened last Friday. The folks at the emergency room have seen it all, still the embarrassment was all mine. Huge shiner on the left eye. No stitches (too close to eye) but glued the puncture wound with some sort of Crazy Glue type stitching. Too ugly to post a picture.Peter Quote Selected

Reply #296 – April 05, 2012, 09:56:06 pm While doing an inspection and getting ready for our first trip of the year we found a small chip in the driver side windshield that had previously been repair had grown over the winter. Glass company was here today to replace windshield. Driver side mirror had to be moved to allow installation of windshield. Since I had the mirror loose I decided to do some adjusting. Drivers side turned out so good I decided to adjust the passanger side mirror. It's amazing how much better I can see with just these minor adjustment. Winshield turned out great. Changed engine oil and checked all other fluid levils last week. Nearly ready to go. Quote Selected
Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #297 – April 11, 2012, 06:14:38 pm Steve removed, regasketed, and reinstalled our front A/C unit to eliminate some vibration noise. He also replaced a broken auxiliary drain kit drip "cup" for that A/C.Then we went to Lowes in Nac and bought the coach its own cordless drill and a set of drill bits. Steve is using it to modify the existing bedroom TV mount hole pattern to accept a new Samsung LED TV.Michelle Quote Selected
Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #298 – April 12, 2012, 02:35:59 pm Steve, how involved is regasketing the A/C? We are having our roof repaired and repainted at FOT on the 23rd. Maybe I should have them install the new gaskets on both units while they are up there? I don't think they pull the A/Cs when they paint the roof. I don't think those gaskets have ever been replaced. Do you think age alone is reason enough to replace?dick Quote Selected
Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #299 – April 12, 2012, 03:59:20 pm Today Steve replaced the Girard awning wind sensor (had a noisy bearing), replaced our Winegard antenna head with the Jack retrofit model, and he is presently outside doing our Aqua-Hot annual maintenance. His "honey-do" list is getting awfully short ETA as part of the maintenance, Steve replaced the hoses going from the main radiators of the AH and the genset to their overflows. The one on the AH was so aged that it cracked at the AH when he removed it. The one on the genset wasn't so bad but in the process of removing it he discovered the fitting on the upper tank had apparently been repaired before and the repair had failed (cracked). We're hoping to find someone here tomorrow AM who can do a little brazing for us.Michelle Quote Selected
