Drained the freshwater tank today and refilled it with 1 3/4 cups of bleach and 100 gallons of water for tank's annual sterilization. Tomorrow I'll drain and add a couple cups of vinegar to "freshen" the tank before filling with fresh water. I found the end of the overflow hose (up high above the passenger side bulkhead), but it looks like I'd have to drill through 3 inches of flooring/foam insulation to get it to drain to the pavement. And the hose would be in front of the gray cover for the manibloc (I think). Not sure of alternatives.

What about putting an extension  on the hose and routing it somewhere where you will be able to drop it to the ground that way.

Craig, if you don't use a ladder try making a safety belt with an old nylon webbing belt and two pitons The pitons either have to be large enough to hook on the "handles" below the windshield or thread them thru the handles and hook back onto the belt after putting the belt around your waist. This will enable you to stand on the bumper hands free so you can install your cover or wash the windshield.

Since I just came upon this thread I have a lot of catching up to do.
Sunday: Spent the day making a ramp so that I could get the coach in the driveway.  The ramp wasn't permanent, it was more like the lumber roads oil well driller crews use.  It took all day to get my wood out of the various places I am forced to keep it and to remove nails from a bunch of 2x4s that a neighbor was tossing.
Monday:  Got the coach from storage and backed into the driveway, it only took two back and fills to get it in.  Spent an hour or so removing as many spiderwebs as I could.  Next I used my builder's level to find out how high to build the ramps under the front wheels (a 6" drop over the 19' wheel base) and finally build the ramps for the front wheels.
Tuesday through Saturday:  worked on the engine bay insulation, removed the generator and insulation, started repair work on the wood backing for the louvered door for the air cleaner.  Spent many hours chasing parts and researching repair procedures on the Internet.
Today: more of the same.

Nitehawk: good tip on the safety belt idea. It is a little precarious up there, all right.  :D

In preparation for the installation of solar panels I spent some money. I bought an "Solar Torrent" MPPT solar regulator (30Amp) that will allow me to buy 30volt panels and use them to charge my 12volt battery bank. I probably would have passed on this but a reviewer who seemed clueful gave it a "pretty darn good" review. Price was $178 (via Amazon).

I also bought a "Ramsound" pure sine-wave 1500W inverter for $$259.99 (via Amazon). I have read conflicting reports about these relatively inexpensive inverters so I plan to do some checking with my handy-dandy Kill-a-Volt (every RVer should have one).

The budget next month should allow me to get two or three solar panels (up to 250watt depending upon the deal I can find) and either fabricate or buy tilt-mounts. I plan to install everything using tape. Should be interesting. With any luck I won't get rained on.

Pulled both grey and black tank water valves to grease them.  Both were EXTREMELY difficult to operate, but a little plain axle grease worked wonders once I finally got the valves out.

Now I have to figure out how I'm going to bolt them back on.  The two rear-most bolts on the black tank valve were very difficult to access.  I'd seen a post by Brett Wolfe saying that he pulls and greases his every two years as it is only a 10-minute job on a U-240.  I know I'm not the wrench Brett is, for it took me over an hour to get the last two bolts out of my U-240.  I'm going to go to Plan B to reinstall them.  Now I just need to think of a good Plan B.

Installed a new bathroom faucet and a new shower valve.  I'll post some before and after pictures once i get the pictures over to the PC.

Also cleaned all the A/C ducts and caulked things needing caulked.  Looks like we are almost ready to roll.  A wax job this week and we'll be good to go!

On Friday I noticed the smell of propane around our coach that we traced down to an additional line installed to provide a quick-connect propane fitting to a bar-b-que grill (or perhaps it was standard). At any rate we determined that one of the hoses was leaking where the hose and the fitting rubbing due to a tight bend. Ferrelgas made up a new hose for $15 and it's installed now. No more smell but I'll double check later on today.

Edit: Checked it just before dark last night and even laid down under the propane compartment to sniff around with the bay door open. Nada. I love $14 fixes!!!

I did it!  I did it! ............ Yes, I FINALLY finished my engine bay insulation replacement.  Taping some of the joints required standing on my head and others were awfully hard on my back.  Now I need to check it with the sound meter to see if it was worth the expense and all that work.  Now that I can get the coach in the driveway I was able to remove the leaking sight glass in the radiator and reinstall it with a new o-ring.  I was so nervous before when standing in the street I just could not seem to get the sight glass out.

To get the bolts on my black tank, I tack welded a piece of steel line right to the end of the bolt.  Slide the nut right down it then pushed it on the threads and turned it a half a turn with my finger.

This was an exciting project!  NOT!  Cleaned the carpet yesterday using a inexpensive wet/dry vac from Lowes.  See photo below.  Most of our coach is in tile, but have about 10 square feet of carpet near the sofa.  It actually worked very well and the carpet looks as good as I think it could after 9 years of wear.  Used a Hoover shampoo (3 tbs per gallon, sort of) and really wetted it down with a sponge.  But not too wet (how is that for vague?).  Then used a brush to work it in, but not too hard.  Then vacuumed.  Rinsed with water in same way.  Vacuumed again.  Finally wiped down with a towel.  Used a couple of fans to help in drying.  Water in vac was like mud!  Was almost dry after about 6 hours (very low humidity here in Tucson).  Repeated cleaning.  Water in vac much improved.

John S-  That's thinking out of the box to be able to get the nut back on, and thanks for the note.  I decided to change out all the bolts on both valves.  I went with stainless bolts and washers, and used stainless wingnuts on the back side.  The stainless guarantees that there'll be no corrocion to make removal difficult.  The use of a wingnut allows me to get at least one finger back there to hold a backup while I'm using my power drill/driver on the front side of the bolt.

Now, the next time I do this job I expect it will be much, much easier.

Today, I drained my hot water heater and holding tanks.  It was nothing but clear water, no sediment.  Got the Hydrogen Peroxide so I am going to put some into the water hose when I put some water back into the coach.  Will run a little thru the water pump as well and into the hot water heater.  I am going to back flush the black holding tank then add a little there. Will put some down every drain.  What else should I do??  DAN

Pulled all three coach batteries, cleaned all posts and used my Dremel tool to take the film off the cable lugs. Reassembled with dielectric grease.
The reason for doing this was because I was getting 14+ volts out of the inverter, but when checking voltage at the battery post, it was only around 12.4v
The former owner just installed the new batteries last fall and aparently didn't get all the cables real tight. Several were loose. It now reads the same voltage at the batteries as to what is comming accross the 300 amp fuse from the inverter.

One thing I added to the upper battery tray was a piece of flat bar welded across the trey in the middle of it. When I was removing the upper battery it fell through the bottom of the tray because the sides of the bottom were wider than the battery, it was only supported at each end. Something you might think about if you are removing a 152 lb. battery by yourself. Your coach may be different, but it wouldn't hurt to keep this in mind. No damage done, but was a close call.

Got all the controls back from HWH all was ok, installed them still no workiee. Looks like I have a cable to the touch panel with some rodent damage where it crosses the fuel tank. So looks like I will enjoy pulling a new control cable from the second bay back to the dash. Anyone ever done it, I'm sure it will be fun.

Mounted a Culligan sediment filter in line with the water inlet in the engine compartment. Now only have to hook hose to faucet, thread it up into the engine compartment in the back driver's side and screw onto the filter.
We have built-in filtered drinking water filter & dispenser so only need sediment filter for sinks & commode.
