First steps to re-wiring the batteries to install the Trimetric meter and our new morningstar solar controller. Drank a bit of whiskey in celebration of a job well done. Will post pics when the installation is complete. WHEW I'M TIRED Roland Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #665 – February 09, 2013, 02:41:48 pm while here in Phxx need some things to do so have bought #2 wire to change out the #6 wire from solar panels to controller and then to batteries etc. present combiner box on roof cannot take this size so a trip to Lowes and got all the stuff to make my own design. Ordered from Amazon a new 60 amp Morningstar controller at 1/2 reg price so that will arrive next week. Putting in an 80 amp cutoff switch before controller so I can cut power from panels if ever needed. Will do the install back home in case I get into a problem. System works fine now, just trying to cut out voltage drop and have it set up if I want to put on more panels. I have 700 watts now. Also wired in the new Progressive surge box before transfer switch.Hmmm what can I do next!!!John H Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #670 – February 09, 2013, 09:19:19 pm Got up bright and early this morning and started fixing thing that don't work on my coach. Started with the generator that would not start. The problem turn out to be no fuel to the fuel pump. So I removed the fuel line from the on board fuel tank and put on another hose and ran that to a 3 gallon tank. The main tank has 60 gallons in it so I need to find out whats up with that. After priming the fuel pump, the thing started right up. Yippee!! Next I go inside the coach, nothing, no power, rats. The problem turn out to be they, the PO, had rewires the transfer switch to eliminate the generator. Lid missing on the transfer switch, so back to the web to see how to wire this thing. Rewired the switch, fired up the generator, nothing, but wait what was the noise? It's the transfer switch, we have power, another Yippee!! Found the lid under the kitchen drawers, it had sled forward during travel I guess. Yep it had the schematic on it. Next up the propane tank. It is not hooked up. So I connected everything as it should be, but another no go. Turn out the propane tank was empty, but I thought I heard gas hissing when I open the valve. Need to check my hearing. So I unconnected and reconnected to a 5 gallon tank, another Yippee!! Stove works, heater works after reconnecting some wires and so does the hot water tank, after a bit of messing with.I spent a lot of time with the refrigerator, but it's dead. Going to Lowe's tomorrow and get the 10 cubic foot model. More fun to be had tomorrow. Quote Selected

Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #672 – February 09, 2013, 10:14:24 pm After doing some additional air leak troubleshooting I found 2 leaking check valves (very corroded) on the Front and rear air tanks from the protection valves on the line with the aux compressor. I replaced them with part # Bendix 800372. Original part # Midland N13526BR.Also found another leaking check Valve on the rear air tank coming from wet tank. I replaced it with Bendix Part # 800375. Original Part # Midland N13526H.Also added another ball valve to isolate another air line to further troubleshoot this elusive leak. While working under the coach I found a broken weld on the frame support and what looks like a hairline crack. That will have to be re welded and supported. Quote Selected
Re: What did you do to your coach today. Reply #673 – February 10, 2013, 12:59:30 pm Replaced the Wilkerson desiccant dryer and blue indicating silica gel desiccant for the 12V air-compressor. I let it go too long and it acclimated too much moister and dissolved the desiccant, also had to clean out air lines up to the check valve. Quote Selected
