I'm bumping this up to the top, because I don't want anyone to miss this opportunity.  In case some of our newer members don't fully realize the significance of what is being offered here, I'll link below to the original thread that supplies all the details.

Some day Tom might get tired of providing this service, and a valuable resource will disappear.  If you think you might EVER need/want to rebuild your 6-pack manifolds, I suggest you take advantage of this offer.  The kits will "keep" just fine until the time you eventually use them.

I am sure most are already aware of this, but, remember, there are TWO 6-packs-- one in front, one in back.

But, cost of installation WILL BE more than 2 6 packs.  Probably a case of wine.

This is a question.  Why do these plungers go bad? Shouldn't the "O" rings wear? Or is there a corrosion problem?  I am considering ordering 2 sets just in case I have a failure. But as of now my system works as it should and holds pressure. Sure hope I don't jinx myself.  ::)

The plungers starting leaking past, maybe the springs get's bad, I don't know. The imprint on the rubber, clearing showed it was worn on 2 of mine.
I keep a complete valve with me, because the electric part of the solenoid failed in the middle of the desert last winter, and I couldn't get to ride height. Just happened at at one.
Easy and cheap to do. Preventive maintenance.

Phred I thought about maybe doing that and also adding a sintered brass filter for the exhaust port (to keep mud daubers from plugging it).  Maybe someday I'll try it.  The only downside might be slower reacting leveling.
But I'm not sure if contamination is causing the solenoid seat problems or just the seat deforming from so many activations.

BTW, I used these plungers, and I am not convinced they work. I believe they can't handle the pressure and leak through after a short period of use.. Also, after some use, it appears the little black center has pushed down into the metal hole, and is letting the metal touch the valve inside.
lastly, the black rubber looks really funky after less then a years use.

I want to clarify, these are not the high quality plungers Tom is selling. I actually have 2 orders in with him. Here is a picture of the one's I used, and don't seem to be working well. Can't say it for a fact they don't work, but I would stick with Toms.
You can see in the picture the center rubber is much smaller in diameter. I couldn't show it in the picture, but the black material has sunk into the metal.

Just a bit of background for those that are not aware:

Tom and others found the means to provide these plunger sets.  They sourced the plungers, springs and O rings.  Once their orders become completed, Tom and his wife take all of the individual parts and package the "sets" in their home and then mail them to us.  This has got to be a labor of love.

When we contact Tom for sets he accumulates requests from all requesters and holds them until he reaches a given quantity then orders the plungers.  It's not like going to the store and bringing home the products we want.  It can take months for Tom and Company to reach enough requests to meets "minimum qty" levels.

Have talked with Tom many times over the years and is a great guy.  This is not his business and derives no monies from these transactions.  He is providing these sets because ho knows how, has done the ground work and is willing to volunteer his time and experience to help us.

My take on why they do fail after time is if you have any contaminants in the air system, some will deposit on the seat face and build up with time. This will cause the fine seating of the seal material to allow an air leak.  As has been mentioned the material seat has to be good enough to withstand millions of hits by the plunger, so again you have an air leak if it will not stand up to this test. Cleanliness is very important on a rebuild. I have done 3 sets of these 6 packs and they all still are in good working order.
This is not a hard job to do as 9thers have contested, but you do  need to mark every tube and wiring and make sure they are returned to original position.
