Re: New Diesel Fuel Discount Card Program Reply #275 – December 12, 2019, 05:41:04 pm Rudy, thanks for this! In one of your first posts I remember you saying that you limited the amount spent to $800 a day. I called TSD today and they said they couldn't put a limit on spending and suggested I call the bank. Is your limit through TSD or the bank? Quote Selected
Re: New Diesel Fuel Discount Card Program Reply #276 – December 12, 2019, 06:32:49 pm The important thing is not being cut off at the pump. No limit is a good thing for me.I have not established a limit with anyone. But I do have a code on my card so no one other than myself can use the card. Most cards have a specific code to that card Quote Selected 2 Likes

We leave So Cal on January 15th, is it unrealistic to expect receipt of the card before we leave?DonBTW, I said I would pay for the expedited processing, but when I submitted the form the message was that I could expect to receive a call to confirm my application in 14 to 20 days. Re: New Diesel Fuel Discount Card Program Reply #279 – January 05, 2020, 04:17:59 pm I had signed up back in September and it took a little over a few weeks for them to call me. I would guess that word getting around has them probably swamped. I would call them to check status. Quote Selected

Re: New Diesel Fuel Discount Card Program Reply #282 – January 06, 2020, 08:25:02 am I believe mine took about 3 weeks to receive. I didn't call since I wasn't under a time crunch. However as friendly and helpful as they have been if you explained that your travel schedule is approaching, they might be able to help expedite it through. Hopefully they will as this has been a real money saver the times that I have used it. Thanks again to Rudy.Safe travels Don,Larry Quote Selected 1 Likes

Re: New Diesel Fuel Discount Card Program Reply #284 – January 20, 2020, 05:27:18 pm Hopefully I am placing this information in the right area. It is about fuel saving recommendations for truckers. Which we are in a way. FreightWavesTop 10 ways to lower diesel fuel expenses for trucking companiesCraig Fuller, CEO at FreightWaves Craig Fuller, CEO at FreightWaves8 hours agoFuel is the number two expense for every trucking company and one of the most volatile. Over the years, trucking companies have implemented various strategies to lower and control their fuel expenses. In recent years, carriers have found ways to mitigate and offset their fuel expenses. These are the top 10 methods trucking fleets use to lower their diesel expenses: Driver Behavior and PracticesReducing top-end speed and unnecessary idle timeAdopting of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) on tractorsImplementing driver behavior coaching and incentive programs Encouraging the use of cruise controlProviding driver incentive programs to reward best practicesPower EquipmentUsing lower viscosity engine oilsKeeping equipment maintained, including tire pressure and rotation frequency and positionRunning 6 X 2 drive axles where permittedAdopting the aerodynamic equipment including wheel covers, gap reducersTrailing EquipmentInstalling lift axles on trailers to reduce rolling resistanceAdopting the latest aerodynamic equipment including side skirts and trailer wingsEquipment SpecificationsMatching truck specification with the area of operationPurchasing the latest fuel-efficient truck designInstall high efficient alternatorsInstalling the very latest in safety technology to minimize rapid decelerations and inconsistent speedsFuel PurchasingImplementing a fuel-surcharge programBuying fuel on wholesale rack index-linked contract Negotiating discounts at truck stops or join a buying programTrip PlanningPre-plan trips for drivers to optimize for:Best priceOut of route miles; and What point on the route to fuel Buying fuel in locations with lower taxes Identifying the optimal time to fuel trucks at truckstops so that idling is minimizedImplementing a route-line fuel optimization solution Planning trip start/end times to avoid areas of high traffic congestionCustomersWorking with shippers to decrease driver wait times to load and unload since delays of two hours or more results in drivers driving 3.5 mph faster decreasing fuel consumption in the processBusiness IntelligenceImplementing SONAR's forecasted overnight change in ULSD- new to the market is a product that we developed at SONAR that provides a look forward of wholesale rack prices, giving fleets visibility on where diesel prices are forecasted to head, with 90% accuracy and down to the rack level. This solution, exclusively offered through SONAR, enables fleets to time their diesel purchases based on the expected change in diesel prices at the wholesale rack. The reason this works is that diesel prices at the wholesale rack are linked to trading activity that happens on the CME futures exchange and the time it takes for the prices to change by wholesalers. Wholesalers adjust their prices after trading activity is closed, allowing for SONAR to project where prices are to be the following day. Effectively, SONAR clients get to "arb" the diesel market.Corporate CultureSuccessful carriers and independent contractors understand that one of the easiest paths to profitability is not spending money. Fuel, for many carriers, is the second-largest variable expense. Educating drivers and non-drivers on the importance of fuel economy to the sustainability of the business should be a primary objective. Provide incentives to improve fuel economy. A growing trend among carriers is the implementation of 'Driver Scorecards' to compare behavior and results to desired benchmarks. Utilizing MPG in these scorecards provide a direct feedback loop for drivers to understand how they are performing versus the rest of the fleet. Some carriers have went further and have provided financial incentives for achieving above average MPG, relative to their peers, under similar conditions.WeatherAdoption of the latest weather forecasting technology such as SONAR's Critical Event Center that overlays extreme weather events on major interstates and freight markets. Integration of critical event data such as road surface conditions and ambient temperatures into route planning and navigation software to minimize driver delays to meet delivery and pick-up windows. Re: New Diesel Fuel Discount Card Program Reply #288 – March 09, 2020, 10:47:23 am Does anybody have a current link for the application? The link initially provided no longer works. The link that is provided by the "broken" page puts me to a very crude application form that doesn't have the "feel" of a real form but rather feels like a scam form. Before submitting a form containing not only my Social Security number but my bank account number, I thought I'd verify the link. Thanks Quote Selected
